Randomized Controlled TrialPost mastectomy pain syndrome after preoperative stellate ganglion block: a randomized controlled trial.
This study investigated the effect of preoperative ultrasound (US) guided stellate ganglion block (SGB) with bupivacaine on the frequency of post mastectomy pain syndrome (PMPS). ⋯ Following mastectomy with axillary dissection, preoperative US guided SGB is associated with less PMPS proportion, postoperative pain and opioid consumption and better patient daily activity and functional capacity.

Randomized Controlled TrialComparison of arterial blood pressure and cardiac index-based hemodynamic management on cognitive function in elderly patients undergoing spinal surgery: a randomized clinical trial.
Postoperative delayed neurocognitive recovery (DNR) is frequent in elderly patients. Prevention of DNR is essential to achieve a better postoperative outcome. ⋯ CI-based hemodynamic management provided better postoperative cognitive function and higher intraoperative rScO2 when compared with MAP-based hemodynamic management.

Randomized Controlled TrialEffects of lung-protective ventilation strategy on lung aeration loss and postoperative pulmonary complications in moderate-risk patients undergoing abdominal surgery.
There is a controversy about whether the use of a lung-protective ventilation strategy(LPVS) can reduce the incidence of postoperative pulmonary complications (PPCs) and improve the clinical outcomes in moderate-risk patients were assessed by the Assess Respiratory Risk in Surgical Patients in Catalonia(ARISCAT). ⋯ The LPVS can decrease lung aeration loss assessed by LUS and reduce the incidence of PPCs in moderate-risk patients.

Randomized Controlled TrialA randomized clinical trial comparing six techniques of postoperative analgesia for elective total hip arthroplasty under subarachnoid anesthesia with opioids.
Optimal control of acute postoperative pain and prevention of chronic persistent pain in total hip arthroplasty (THA) remain a challenge. The main hypothesis was that peripheral nerve blocks improve postoperative analgesia. ⋯ combined with a multimodal analgesic approach, infra-inguinal FICB and LFCNB did not improve immediate postoperative analgesia for THA in our hospital. Other options and longer-term studies should be more extensively investigated to determine the role of peripheral blocks in postoperative pain treatment protocols.

Randomized Controlled TrialSuperficial cervical plexus block alone or combined with interscalene brachial plexus block in surgery for clavicle fractures: a randomized clinical trial.
The regional anesthesia technique which is suitable for fracture clavicle is a matter of debate. This study aimed to compare the use of superficial cervical plexus alone or in combination with interscalene block in patients undergoing internal fixation of fractured clavicle. ⋯ In patients undergoing internal fixation of clavicular fracture, the perioperative analgesic effect of SCP alone is equally effective to its use in combination with ISB.
