Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyRandomized Controlled Trial of Preconception Interventions in Infertile Women With Polycystic Ovary Syndrome.
Lifestyle modification is recommended in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) prior to conception but there are few randomized trials to support its implementation or benefit. ⋯ A preconception weight loss intervention eliminates the adverse metabolic oral contraceptive effects and, compared with oral contraceptive pretreatment, leads to higher ovulation rates.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudySteroid Sex Hormones, Sex Hormone-Binding Globulin, and Diabetes Incidence in the Diabetes Prevention Program.
Steroid sex hormones and SHBG may modify metabolism and diabetes risk, with implications for sex-specific diabetes risk and effects of prevention interventions. ⋯ Estrogens and T predicted diabetes risk in men but not in women. SHBG and its polymorphisms did not predict risk in men or women. Diabetes risk is more potently determined by obesity and glycemia than by sex hormones.

Multicenter StudyProlonged Correction of Serum Phosphorus in Adults With X-Linked Hypophosphatemia Using Monthly Doses of KRN23.
In X-linked hypophosphatemia (XLH), elevated fibroblast growth factor 23 (FGF23) decreases the renal tubular maximum reabsorption rate of phosphate/glomerular filtration rate (TmP/GFR) and serum inorganic phosphorus (Pi), resulting in rickets and/or osteomalacia. ⋯ Monthly KRN23 significantly increased serum Pi, TmP/GFR, and 1,25(OH)2D in all subjects. KRN23 has potential for effectively treating XLH.

Multicenter Study Observational StudyDiagnostic Accuracy of Copeptin in the Differential Diagnosis of the Polyuria-polydipsia Syndrome: A Prospective Multicenter Study.
The polyuria-polydipsia syndrome comprises primary polydipsia (PP) and central and nephrogenic diabetes insipidus (DI). Correctly discriminating these entities is mandatory, given that inadequate treatment causes serious complications. The diagnostic "gold standard" is the water deprivation test with assessment of arginine vasopressin (AVP) activity. However, test interpretation and AVP measurement are challenging. ⋯ Copeptin is a promising new tool in the differential diagnosis of the polyuria-polydipsia syndrome, and a valid surrogate marker for AVP. Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyPreconception low dose aspirin and time to pregnancy: findings from the effects of aspirin in gestation and reproduction randomized trial.
The objective was to determine the effect of preconception-initiated daily low-dose aspirin (LDA; 81 mg/day) treatment on time to pregnancy in women with a history of pregnancy loss. ⋯ Preconception-initiated LDA treatment resulted in a nonsignificant increase in fecundability of 14% in women with a history of 1-2 pregnancy losses, and a significant increase of 28% in women with a history of only one pregnancy loss of <20 weeks' gestation in the preceding year. Preconception-initiated LDA may increase fecundability in certain women with a recent early pregnancy loss.
