Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study Clinical Trial
Bilateral ascending uterine artery ligation vs. tourniquet use for hemostasis in cesarean myomectomy. A comparison.
To comparatively investigate the effects of using bilateral ascending uterine artery ligation and tourniquet use on intraoperative and postoperative blood loss during myomectomy in cesarean cases. ⋯ Despite the fact that bilateral ascending uterine artery ligation and tourniquet use had similar outcomes with regard to intraoperative blood loss in cesarean myomectomy cases, the efficacy of ligation on blood loss in the postoperative period continues owing to its permanence. The tourniquet method is not effective in the postoperative period since the tourniquet is removed at the end of the operation. Therefore, bilateral ascending uterine artery ligation may be preferable in cesarean myomectomy cases.

Manual removal of the placenta and postcesarean endometritis.
To determine if manual vs. spontaneous delivery of the placenta at cesarean section affects the rate of postoperative endometritis and amount of blood loss. ⋯ We found no significant difference in either postoperative endometritis or blood loss regardless of the means used to effect delivery of the placenta. The frequency of febrile morbidity in our study cases was considerably lower than heretofore reported.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study Clinical Trial
Effect of acupressure on nausea and vomiting during pregnancy. A randomized, placebo-controlled, pilot study.
To compare the antiemetic effect of acupressure at the Neiguan point (P6) in a group of healthy women with normal pregnancy and nausea and vomiting during pregnancy (NVP) with a similar group receiving acupressure at a placebo point and another, similar group not receiving any treatment. ⋯ This study involved 60 healthy women with normal pregnancy and suffering from NVP. According to the results, in healthy women with normal pregnancy it is possible to reduce NVP significantly at P6 as compared to acupressure at a placebo point and to no treatment.

Video vs. CD-ROM for teaching pelvic anatomy to third-year medical students. A comparison.
To compare the effectiveness and student acceptance of video and CD-ROM review of pelvic anatomy in third-year obstetrics and gynecology students. ⋯ Use of video review resulted in short-term significantly higher test scores, but students preferred an interactive CD-ROM. This method should be made available to all students during the rotation.

Effect of feedback on obstetrics and gynecology residents' teaching performance and attitudes.
To evaluate obstetrics and gynecology residents' teaching performance, perception of the importance of teaching and satisfaction with their evaluations after the institution of an oral or written medical student feedback and award system. ⋯ A feedback and award system can lead to improved resident teaching performance as well as enhanced perception of residents' role as teachers and greater resident satisfaction.
