Multicenter StudyA score to predict the risk of emergency caesarean delivery in women with antepartum bleeding and placenta praevia.
To identify antenatal events associated with emergency caesarean sections in women presenting with antepartum bleeding and placenta praevia and to establish a score to predict the risk of emergency caesarean after a first bleeding episode has resolved. ⋯ A scoring system for placenta praevia with previous bleeding events, based on intensity, gestational age at sentinel bleed (before 29 weeks), number of bleeding episodes (≥3) and type of praevia (major) might be helpful to guide obstetric management and especially to determine the need for admission.

Multicenter StudyThe pelvic floor muscle hyperalgesia (PFMH) scoring system: a new classification tool to assess women with chronic pelvic pain: multicentre pilot study of validity and reliability.
The contribution of pelvic floor muscle tenderness to chronic pelvic pain (CPP) is well established in the literature. However pelvic floor muscle hyperalgesia (PFMH) is often missed during vaginal examination of women with CPP. To our knowledge criteria for diagnosing PFMH has not been established or validated so far. The aim of this study is to assess the validity and reliability of the PFMH scoring system. ⋯ The PFMH scoring system is a simple, reliable, valid and easy screening tool for in the assessment of women with CPP.

Multicenter Study Comparative Study Observational StudyThe association of skin-incision type at cesarean with maternal and neonatal morbidity for women with multiple prior cesarean deliveries.
In women with multiple prior cesarean deliveries (CDs), vertical skin incisions are thought by some to result in better outcomes. The objective of this study was to compare maternal and neonatal outcomes according to the type of skin incisions among women with multiple prior CDs. ⋯ Vertical skin incision at the time of multiple repeat CD was not associated with better obstetric or perinatal outcomes and was associated among women with ≥4 prior CDs with a higher frequency of prolonged hospitalization and adverse maternal outcomes.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyInduction of labour or expectant monitoring in hypertensive pregnancy disorders at term: do women's postpartum cardiovascular risk factors differ between the two strategies?
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death in women in the western world. Several studies have described the association between hypertensive pregnancy disorders and CVD in later life. Our aim was to compare postpartum cardiovascular risk factors in women who had a shorter and women who had a longer exposure to endothelial activation during their term hypertensive pregnancy. ⋯ In women with hypertensive disorders in pregnancy at term, induction of labour does not affect the clinical and biochemical cardiovascular profile at 2.5 years postpartum.

Multicenter Study Comparative StudyObstetric and neonatal outcomes of twin pregnancies conceived by assisted reproductive technology compared with twin pregnancies conceived spontaneously: a prospective follow-up study.
To compare the obstetric and neonatal outcomes of twin pregnancies conceived by assisted reproduction technology (ART) with spontaneously conceived (SC) twin pregnancies. ⋯ The maternal outcomes of ART dichorionic twins were comparable with those of SC twins. However, despite the same obstetric management, the rates of very preterm birth, extremely low birth weight, admission to a neonatal intensive care unit and perinatal mortality were significantly higher in the ART group.
