Comparative StudySurgery for pre- and minimally invasive lung adenocarcinoma.
Adenocarcinoma in situ (AIS) and minimally invasive adenocarcinoma (MIA) are the pre- and minimally invasive forms of lung adenocarcinoma. We aimed to investigate safety results and survival outcomes following different types of surgical resection in a large sample of patients with AIS/MIA. ⋯ Sublobar resection, especially wedge resection without lymph node dissection, may be the preferred surgical procedure for patients with AIS/MIA. If there are no risk factors, postoperative follow-up intervals may be extended. These implications should be validated in further studies.

Surgery for severe congenital heart diseases in children from developing nations.
Children with severe congenital heart disease (CHD) are rarely treated in developing countries and have very little to no chance to survive in their local environment. Mécénat Chirurgie Cardiaque (MCC) flies to France children with CHD from developing countries. This report focuses on the early, mid, and late outcomes of 531 children with severe CHD sent to MCC for surgery from 1996 to 2019. ⋯ Operating on 531 children with severe CHD from developing nations was achieved with satisfactory early and long-term results. Children with severe CHD are rarely operated on in developing nations. Programs like MCC's offer a viable option to save these children born with severe CHD.

Implementation of a protocol to increase the academic productivity of cardiothoracic surgery resident physicians.
Academic productivity during cardiothoracic surgery residency training is an important program metric, but is highly variable due to multiple factors. This study evaluated the influence of implementing a protocol to increase resident physicians' academic productivity in cardiac surgery. ⋯ Implementation of a dedicated protocol to facilitate faculty mentoring of resident research and streamline the data access, analysis, and publication process substantially improved cardiothoracic surgery residents' academic productivity.
