A Baby-Led Approach to Eating Solids and Risk of Choking.
To determine the impact of a baby-led approach to complementary feeding on infant choking and gagging. ⋯ Infants following a baby-led approach to feeding that includes advice on minimizing choking risk do not appear more likely to choke than infants following more traditional feeding practices. However, the large number of children in both groups offered foods that pose a choking risk is concerning.

Neurobehavioral Outcomes in Children After Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest.
This study examined 12-month neurobehavioral outcomes in children who survived out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OH-CA), were comatose after resuscitation, and were enrolled in a clinical trial to evaluate targeted temperature management to hypothermia (33.0°C) or normothermia (36.8°C) (Therapeutic Hypothermia after Pediatric Cardiac Arrest, Out-of-Hopsital [THAPCA-OH]; NCT00878644). ⋯ This is the largest study exploring long-term neurobehavioral outcomes in children surviving OH-CA who were comatose after resuscitation. Results revealed significant neurobehavioral morbidity across multiple functional domains, based both on caregiver reports and performance on objective cognitive measures, in survivors 1 year later.

Videolaryngoscope for Teaching Neonatal Endotracheal Intubation: A Randomized Controlled Trial.
To assess whether the videolaryngoscope (VL) is superior to the classic laryngoscope (CL) in acquiring skill in neonatal endotracheal intubation (ETI) and, once acquired with the VL, whether the skill is transferable to the CL. ⋯ When learning ETI, the success rate is improved with the VL. Time to successful intubation is longer, but the difference is not clinically significant. When switched to the CL, residents' success rate slightly decreased, but not significantly. This suggests that residents retain a certain level of ETI skill when switched to the CL. The VL is a promising tool for teaching neonatal ETI.

3% Hypertonic Saline Versus Normal Saline in Inpatient Bronchiolitis: A Randomized Controlled Trial.
Bronchiolitis, the most common reason for hospitalization in children younger than 1 year in the United States, has no proven therapies effective beyond supportive care. We aimed to investigate the effect of nebulized 3% hypertonic saline (HS) compared with nebulized normal saline (NS) on length of stay (LOS) in infants hospitalized with bronchiolitis. ⋯ Among infants admitted to the hospital with bronchiolitis, treatment with nebulized 3% HS compared with NS had no difference in LOS or 7-day readmission rates.

Videolaryngoscopy to Teach Neonatal Intubation: A Randomized Trial.
Neonatal endotracheal intubation is a necessary skill. However, success rates among junior doctors have fallen to <50%, largely owing to declining opportunities to intubate. Videolaryngoscopy allows instructor and trainee to share the view of the pharynx. We compared intubations guided by an instructor watching a videolaryngoscope screen with the traditional method where the instructor does not have this view. ⋯ Intubation success rates of inexperienced neonatal trainees significantly improved when the instructor was able to share their view on a videolaryngoscope screen.
