Continuous Veno-Venous Hemodiafiltration and Plasma Exchange in Infantile Acute Liver Failure.
The purpose of the current study was to assess our multidisciplinary approach consisting of early application of neurology-oriented intensive care, aggressive artificial liver support and liver transplantation at the appropriate time for infants with acute liver failure. ⋯ Our multidisciplinary approach for infants with acute liver failure achieved favorable outcomes. Further investigations are needed to examine the efficacy of the artificial liver support.

Prevalence and Predictors of Adverse Events during Procedural Sedation Anesthesia-Outside the Operating Room for Esophagogastroduodenoscopy and Colonoscopy in Children: Age Is an Independent Predictor of Outcomes.
Procedural sedation/anesthesia outside the operating room for a variety of procedures is well described with an overall low adverse event rate in certain settings. Adverse event associated with procedural sedation/anesthesia outside the operating room for gastrointestinal procedures have been described, albeit in small, single-center studies with wide variance in outcomes. Predictors of such outcomes are unclear. We aimed to estimate the prevalence of adverse event in children undergoing procedural sedation/anesthesia outside the operating room for esophagogastroduodenoscopy, colonoscopy, or both to identify predictors of adverse event. ⋯ Overall prevalence of any adverse event was 4.8%. Independent predictors of adverse events in procedural sedation/anesthesia outside the operating room in pediatric esophagogastroduodenoscopy/colonoscopy onoscopy were identified. Recognition of such risk factors may enable optimization of procedural sedation.

Influence of Acute Kidney Injury Defined by the Pediatric Risk, Injury, Failure, Loss, End-Stage Renal Disease Score on the Clinical Course of PICU Patients.
To evaluate the predictive value of the pediatric-modified Risk, Injury, Failure, Loss, End-stage renal disease criteria for disease course severity in patients with or without acute kidney injury admitted to a PICU. ⋯ The degree of acute kidney injury severity, as assessed by the pediatric-modified Risk, Injury, Failure, Loss, End-stage renal disease criteria, is a good predictor of morbidity and mortality in this population. Pediatric Index of Mortality 2 tends to underestimate mortality in pediatric patients with severe acute kidney injury.
