Therapeutic Hypothermia for Refractory Status Epilepticus.
Our goal was to perform a systematic review of the literature on the use of therapeutic hypothermia for refractory status epilepticus (RSE) and its impact on seizure control. ⋯ Oxford level 4, GRADE D evidence exists to support the use of therapeutic hypothermia to control seizures in RSE. Further prospective study is warranted.

Modern inhalational anesthetics for refractory status epilepticus.
Our goal was to perform a systematic review of the literature on the use of modern inhalational anesthetic agents for refractory status epilepticus and their impact on seizure control. ⋯ Oxford level 4, Grading of Recommendation Assessment Development and Education D evidence exists to support the use of isoflurane in refractory status epilepticus to obtain burst suppression. Insufficient data exist to comment on the efficacy of desflurane and xenon at this time.

It also recognized that maximizing the existing strengths through a province-wide integrated approach was a pivotal mechanism. ⋯ The goal of this article is to introduce the elements of the Ontario Brain Institute to the neuroscience community: the motivation for establishing it, the philosophy behind its creation, the principles guiding its development, the rapid evolution of its functional structure, the tools available to achieve its vision, and the management structure to ensure success. The singular goal of the Province and the Ontario Brain Institute is a comprehensive system that assures that basic research is embedded in the clinical system and is facilitating product development to accelerate benefits to both health and the economy of health: science with impact.

Cerebral vasospasm is a potentially devastating complication in patients with aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage. The purpose of this article is to review the use of computed tomogram (CT) angiography and CT perfusion in the diagnosis of cerebral vasospasm after aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage and also assess their use in guiding treatment decisions. ⋯ Computed tomogram angiography can directly visualize arterial narrowing and CT perfusion is able to evaluate differences in perfusion parameters after aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage with high sensitivity and specificity. CT perfusion is better at predicting which patients require endovascular treatment.
