To report a case of enteritis necroticans acquired in Australia, and to review the history, epidemiology, pathogenesis, clinical features, management and prevention of this disease. ⋯ Enteritis necroticans is a rare disease in developed countries, however it is likely to be underdiagnosed. Clinicians are encouraged to be on the alert for signs of severity that may indicate the need for laparotomy in a predisposed individual with features of this condition.

To increase awareness of the unusual complication of pneumoperitoneum after cardiopulmonary resuscitation. ⋯ The likelihood of pneumoperitoneum is reduced if standard guidelines for cardiopulmonary resuscitation are adhered to.

To examine the presentation, investigative findings, treatment and outcome in patients with spinal epidural abscess. ⋯ The main determinant of outcome was the neurological state at presentation emphasising the importance of early diagnosis and prompt treatment.

This study was undertaken to see if patients who had a radiological diagnosis of arachnoiditis attributed to methylprednisolone acetate (Depo-Medrol, Upjohn Pty Limited) had the clinical syndrome of arachnoiditis. ⋯ The absence of any other apparent cause for their symptoms implies that Depo-Medrol should not be used in or about the thecal sac.
