The aim of this study was to study the efficacy of cisplatin-loaded M1 macrophage secreted-exosomes (DDP-M1-Exos) in enhancing DDP antitumor effect. ⋯ The DDP-M1-Exos drug delivery system is prepared using Exos extracted via density gradient centrifugation by electroporation, and the drug-loaded Exos are able to effectively inhibit the proliferation of tumor cells and induce their apoptosis, exerting an antitumor effect.

The aim of this study was to uncover the ability of PM
2.5 exposure to induce apoptosis in alveolar epithelial cells by stimulating excessive production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), thus activating p38 to result in emphysema in mice. ⋯ PM2.5 exposure elevates ROS level in lung tissues, and activates p38, thus leading to apoptosis of alveolar epithelial cells. PM2.5 finally results in the development of emphysema in mice. -
During the last decade, a number of clinical scores, such as Gender-Age-Physiology (GAP) Index, TORVAN Score and Charlson Comorbidity Index (CCI), have been separately used to measure comorbidity burden in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). However, no previous study compared the prognostic value of these scores to assess mortality risk stratification in IPF patients with mild-to-moderate disease. ⋯ Due to the increased atherosclerotic and comorbidity burden, IPF patients with CCI ≥6 at an early-stage disease have poor outcome over medium-term follow-up.

Hepatic encephalophathy (HE) is a neuropsychiatric syndrome with a prevalence in the cirrhotic population ranging from 20 to 80%. HE is a cause of inappropriate hospitalization, caregiver burdening and increased social costs. There is need to create dedicated care pathways to better manage patients and support family caregivers. ⋯ DTAP was created based on the most recent recommendations of the international scientific literature. The present DTAP highlight the need for a multidisciplinary activity integrated with territorial medicine in close connection with caregivers. This guarantees improved therapeutic adherence, hospital readmission reduction, improved quality of life for patients and caregivers and a significant reduction in costs.
