Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study
The evaluation of hyaluronic acid, with and without lidocaine, in the filling of nasolabial folds as measured by ultrastructural changes and pain management.
Pain management is an important objective in procedures involving dermal fillers composed of hyaluronic acid (HA). ⋯ The use of HA+L provides pain relief without affecting efficacy, satisfaction, safety, or the duration of results. RCM showed that the changes in the dermoepidermal junction represented a histological improvement in the skin with similar results in both groups.

Efficacy and safety of ustekinumab in Chinese patients with moderate to severe plaque-type psoriasis: results from a phase 3 clinical trial (LOTUS).
Available biologic agents for the treatment of psoriasis in China are limited. ⋯ Consistent with results previously reported in global phase 3 studies, ustekinumab was highly effective and generally well tolerated in Chinese patients with moderate to severe psoriasis through 36 weeks.

Virtually painless local anesthesia: diluted lidocaine proves to be superior to buffered lidocaine for subcutaneous infiltration.
Many physicians believe that buffering local anesthetics with sodium bicarbonate is the best technique for reducing the pain and discomfort associated with subcutaneous infiltration. ⋯ Pain and discomfort during subcutaneous injection of lidocaine can be reduced by diluting the anesthetic with normal saline in a 1:10 ratio.

Ustekinumab improves health-related quality of life in Korean and Taiwanese patients with moderate to severe psoriasis: results from the PEARL trial.
The PEARL study showed that the proportion of psoriasis patients achieving the primary endpoint (at least 75% improvement from baseline to week 12 in the Psoriasis Area and Severity Index) was significantly higher in ustekinumab-treated patients compared with placebo. There is a paucity of data regarding the impact of psoriasis and its treatment on health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in Asian patients. ⋯ Ustekinumab significantly improves HRQoL in Korean/Taiwanese patients with moderate to severe psoriasis.

Efficacy and tolerability of two commercial hyperpigmentation kits in the treatment of facial hyperpigmentation and photo-aging.
Hyperpigmentary disorders are common aesthetic skin conditions that can be very concerning to patients and both challenging and time-consuming for the physician to treat. Several companies commercialize hyperpigmentation kits for the lightening of dark spots and improvement of overall skin dyschromia. Unfortunately, clinical data from controlled studies to support the efficacy and tolerability of these kits are typically lacking. ⋯ This clinical study demonstrated that both systems were equally effective at reducing hyperpigmentation and global photo-aging in females with mottled pigmentation and photodamaged facial skin.
