Effect of Coenzyme Q10 Supplementation on Diabetes Biomarkers: a Systematic Review and Meta-analysis of Randomized Controlled Clinical Trials.
Several studies have investigated the effect of Co-Q10 on diabetes biomarkers, but findings are inconsistent. This systematic review and meta-analysis of clinical trials was conducted to summarize the effect of Co-Q10 supplementation on diabetes biomarkers. ⋯ Co-Q10 supplementation slightly but significantly reduced fasting blood glucose, but not fasting insulin and HbA1c. More long-term studies are necessary to examine the association between Co-Q10 supplementation and diabetes biomarkers. This study was funded by the School of Nutrition and Food Science, Isfahan University of Medical Sciences.

Randomized Controlled Trial
Prophylactic Effect of Rectal Indomethacin Administration, with and without Intravenous Hydration, on Development of Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography Pancreatitis Episodes: A Randomized Clinical Trial.
Acute Post ERCP Pancreatitis (PEP) is the most common major complication of Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP). The aim of the current study was to assess the utility of single dose rectal indomethacin with and without intravenous perfusion of normal saline to prevent acute pancreatitis. ⋯ The combination of rectal indomethacin and intravenous normal saline before ERCP significantly prevents post-ERCP pancreatitis.

Recent studies have shown that metabolic syndrome is associated with poor health-related quality of life (HRQoL). Moreover, it is shown that the prevalence of MetS and impaired glucose regulation, which are shown to have negative impact on HRQoL, overlap. This study aimed to investigate the association between HRQoL and metabolic syndrome (MetS) considering glucose regulation status in a sample of non-diabetic Tehranian adults. ⋯ The current study showed that in both normal and impaired glucose regulation groups, MetS was associated with poor physical HRQoL in women but not men.

Hypertension is a major risk factor for non-communicable diseases. Yet, Nation-wide prevalence and trend reports in developing countries are sparsely available. ⋯ The prevalence of hypertension and pre-hypertension is gradually declining. Despite improvements in awareness, management, treatment and control, these decline rates are still low and initiative strategies need to be implemented to further improve the current status.

Long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) genes are an important population of non-coding RNAs with defined key roles in normal development as well as tumorigenesis process. Evidences suggest that they can be classified as tumor suppressor genes or oncogenes according to their functions and expression pattern in tumoral tissues. They have been shown to regulate the plasticity of cancer stem cells. ⋯ Deregulation of a number of lncRNAs, such as HOTAIR, XIST, MALAT, and H19 has been detected in breast cancer samples and cell lines. In addition, the association between lncRNAs signature and breast cancer patients' survival has been assessed in various studies. Here, the expression patterns of lncRNAs in breast cancer, as well as their significance in prognosis and patient treatment are discussed.
