It is proposed that survivin plays a critical role in the pathogenesis of cancer. Immune regulatory cells are associated with the growth of cancer in the body. Antisenses for the key molecules can suppress tumor growth. This study tests the hypothesis that the antisense of survivin can inhibit cervical cancer. ⋯ The results suggest that the survivin antisense has the potential to be used in the treatment of cervical cancer.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the endothelial-dependent and -independent arterial vessels' reactivity in patients in the long term after kidney transplantation (KTx). ⋯ Both endothelium-dependent and -independent arterial wall reactions decrease with age. The endothelial-dependent vascular response is more attenuated in KTx patients than the independent one. The endothelium-independent vasodilation in KTx patients is comparable with that in healthy people.

This study was designed to investigate the roles of STAT3 and SMYD3 in chronic lymphocytic leukemia and the regulatory relationship between STAT3 and SMYD3 in chronic lymphocytic leukemia. ⋯ STAT3 may promote chronic lymphocytic leukemia progression through elevating SMYD3 expression. Targeting STAT3 and SMYD3 may be a potential therapeutic strategy for chronic lymphocytic leukemia.

Regulatory B cells (Bregs), a novel subpopulation of B cells, are a significant area of research due to their immune regulatory function in the immunological response. Bregs have been reported to regulate acute inflammation and immunity through the production of anti-inflammatory cytokines. ⋯ These methods should be able to facilitate progress in research on Bregs through the following steps: 1) the regulatory role may be observed in comparison with particular autoimmune diseases, inflammation, cancer, and immunologic responses to find out whether Breg alteration and/or cytokine production is altered as well in these disorders or conditions. 2) If the alteration of Bregs and cytokine production is significant along with the clinical correlation, a further in vitro study can be initiated with exposure of certain drugs to overcome the alteration of the cytokine production; then, an in vivo study can be initiated.

Diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs) are the most common foot injuries leading to lower extremity amputation in diabetic patients. Recent studies showed that long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) played important roles in diverse biological processes. In this study, we focused on identifying differentially expressed long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) in DFU. ⋯ Bioinformatics analysis showed that differentially expressed lncRNAs were involved in regulating the ERK1 and ERK2 cascade, secondary alcohol biosynthetic process, centrosome duplication and DNA repair. These results suggested the potential prognostic value of lncRNAs in DFU.
