MicroRNA-1179 regulates proliferation and chemosensitivity of human ovarian cancer cells by targeting the PTEN-mediated PI3K/AKT signaling pathway.
Owing to widespread roles of miRs, the dysregulation of their expression in human tissues has been linked with the development of several diseases such as cancer. The study was designed to investigate the role and therapeutic potential of miR-1179 in ovarian cancer. ⋯ The results of this study indicate that miR-1179 may prove to be an important therapeutic target for ovarian cancer.

Long non-coding RNA HOTAIR regulates proliferation, migration and invasion of human cervical cancer cells by modulating expression of MAPK1.
Accumulating evidence suggests that long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are dysregulated in cancer cells and may be responsible for the development and progression of this disease. Herein, the role and therapeutic potential of aberrantly expressed lncRNA HOTAIR were investigated in cervical cancer. ⋯ These results indicate that lncRNA HOTAIR may prove to be an important therapeutic target for management of cervical cancer.
