Ox-LDL (oxidized low-density lipoprotein)-induced endothelial cell injury and dysfunction of vascular smooth muscle cells play critical roles in the development of atherosclerosis (AS). Tropomyosin 2 (TPM2) has been implicated in cardiac diseases, but its critical role and regulatory mechanism in AS progression have not yet been elucidated. ⋯ TPM2 had an advantageous impact on ox-LDL-induced AS progression in vitro by mediating the RhoA pathway. This evidence might contribute to the therapy of AS.

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a common inflammatory joint disease characterised by progressive cartilage destruction. Management of this condition remains a significant challenge, and new therapies are required. We investigated the protective effects of miR-106a mimics in a murine model of OA. ⋯ Treatment with miR-106a mimic ameliorates inflammation in cartilage tissues of OA subjects by activating death receptor 6 via the NF-κB signalling pathway.

Patient-reported treatment burden (TBN) refers to the patient's time and effort invested in the management of their chronic health conditions. The aim of this research was to explore TBN in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD). ⋯ Patients with CAD could have a lower TBN in comparison to patients with other chronic medical conditions.

This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of two methods for non-invasive mechanical ventilation in patients with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) - using a helmet interface with a flow meter and positive end-expiratory pressure valve versus a traditional mechanical ventilator. ⋯ This single-center randomized clinical trial found no statistically significant differences between the two methods of non-invasive ventilation. Implications for clinical practice: using the helmet interface with the flow meter and positive end-expiratory pressure valve can simplify device installation, potentially reducing the need for intubation, making it a valuable tool for nurses and physiotherapists in daily clinical practice.

Investigating how circular RNAs (circRNAs) function during tumorigenesis may help uncover novel diagnostic markers for cancer treatment. The oncogenic role of circ_001621 has been verified in osteosarcoma, but its role in lung cancer has yet to be reported. This research is the first to investigate the circ_001621 expression and regulatory mechanism in lung cancer. ⋯ The circ_001621/miR-199a-3p/GREM1 axis exhibits an association with the development of lung cancer, suggesting its potential as a future therapeutic target for the disease.
