Osteoarthritis of the hip or knee has been reported to be linked to an increased risk of frailty. However, a definitive conclusion about whether hip or knee osteoarthritis increases susceptibility to frailty remains elusive. ⋯ Two-sample Mendelian randomization analysis effectively identified hip or knee osteoarthritis as a contributing risk factor for frailty.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic inflammation resulting in the involvement of all the structures constituting a joint. We determined the type and severity of foot deformities, determined the impact of the degree of disturbances of foot statics and the disease activity on the duration of the particular phases of gait, determined the impact of the maximum foot load and the percentage distribution of loads between the forefoot and hindfoot on the duration of the particular phases of gait, and established the link between observed disorders and the stage of rheumatoid arthritis. ⋯ Our results confirm the usefulness of baropodometric examination as an important diagnostic tool in the evaluation of the locomotor system of RA patients.

Trace mineral micronutrients are essential for periodontal health, and unbalanced levels of trace minerals are related to chronic periodontitis, including copper. We attempted to explore the relationship between cuproptosis and periodontitis. ⋯ Cuproptosis is an important player in the pathophysiological process of periodontitis.

Patients are qualified for an adrenalectomy due to endocrine or oncologic reasons. Final histopathological diagnoses include a wide spectrum of more than a dozen entities. The aim of this study was to compare preoperative and postoperative diagnoses of patients undergoing adrenalectomy to determine the level of diagnostic accuracy, as well as sex and age of patients. ⋯ The lowest diagnostic accuracy is observed in cases of pheochromocytoma and adrenal cyst. Meticulous preparation of the patient for hormonal tests, including discontinuation of certain medications, is essential for obtaining accurate results. The diagnosis of Cushing's syndrome is more prevalent in females, while metastasis syndrome is more prevalent in males. Adrenocortical carcinoma may initially be diagnosed as a non-functioning tumor (1.6% of such cases) or a recurrence of a previously resected tumor, which should always raise a suspicion of a malignant neoplasm.

The association of air pollution with bone mineral density (BMD) has attracted increasing attention. However, establishing a causal relationship remains uncertain. ⋯ Our findings demonstrate that PM2.5, PM10 and nitrogen oxides exposure may contribute to decreased BMD.
