The study aimed to determine the level of basic hope and symptoms of anxiety and depression in women after miscarriage.Methods: To evaluate the symptoms of anxiety and depression, and basic hope, the standardized questionnaires the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) and the Basic Hope Inventory (BHI-12), respectively, were used. Patients hospitalized at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of the Provincial Combined Hospital in Kielce due to miscarriage in the period from September 2019 to August 2021 were included in the study. ⋯ It was found that the level of hope significantly increased after 3 months compared to this level during hospitalization. Hope was associated with lower levels of anxiety and depression symptoms.

This prospective study aimed to evaluate the functional status and risk factors in patients undergoing lung resection. ⋯ Lung functions dropped sharply after the surgery but improved over time.

Influenza may be correlated with a high number of complications and generate high costs of treatment. The study aimed to estimate the socioeconomic significance of hospitalized influenza cases. ⋯ Influenza complications generate higher systemic and patient's costs, both direct and indirect. The group of children for whom the difference is especially marked is under 2 years of age.

The study was designed to explore how cinobufagin (CB) regulates the development of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cells through lipid rafts. ⋯ CB regulates the activity of Akt in lipid rafts by inhibiting caveolin-1 expression to promote NSCLC cell apoptosis.

Chronic heart failure (HF) represents a major global public health problem, and despite significant advances in diagnosis and management over the past two decades, HF patients still have a poor prognosis. The aim of the study was to evaluate the relationship between lung congestion, as assessed by lung ultrasonography (LUS), bioimpedance spectroscopy, body fluid compartments, and echocardiographic parameters, and to determine the effect of these associations on all-cause mortality in HF patients. ⋯ We show for the first time in HF patients that pulmonary congestion, as assessed by LUS, is associated with the severity of NYHA class, LVEF, eGFR, and ECW, and it identifies those at increased risk of death.
