Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) is a type of lymphoma common throughout the western countries. However, the detailed mechanisms and special biomarkers of HL remain to be further investigated. Emerging studies have shown that long non-coding RNAs play a key role in human cancers. ⋯ Our results for the first time constructed the key relapse-related lncRNA-mediated ceRNA networks in Hodgkin lymphoma progression. We trust that this work will provide a new therapeutic and prognostic target for HL.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most frequently diagnosed tumors in Western countries. CRC is a heterogeneous group of tumors with regards to its molecular pathogenesis and genetic factors. Both genetic variations and anthropometric factors may affect morbidity in CRC patients. The aim of this study was to assess the impact of multidrug resistance 1/ATP-binding cassette sub-family B member 1 gene (MDR1/ABCB1) polymorphism rs1045642 and general anthropometric factors on the CRC risk. ⋯ The MDR1/ABCB1 gene polymorphism rs 1045642 may be involved in the pathogenesis of CRC and this relationship may be sex-specific for males. However, further population studies are necessary to assess this relationship.

Lung cancer is the malignant tumor with the fastest increase in morbidity and mortality and the greatest threat to human health and life. Long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) is emerging as an important regulator in many cancers. Recently, it was found that lncRNA prostate cancer associated transcript 1 (PCAT-1) was up-regulated in lung cancer, playing oncogenic roles. However, the underlying regulatory mechanism of PCAT-1 remains unknown. ⋯ Our findings demonstrate that on account of the dual function of pro-proliferation and anti-apoptosis, PCAT-1/miR-324-5p/RAP1A may be novel candidates for application in the diagnosis, prognosis and therapy of lung cancer.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common and prevalent cancer type among liver cancers. In this study, expression of miR-490-3p and aurora kinase A gene (AURKA) was investigated in HCC. Additionally, we explored the microRNA (miR)-490-3p/AURKA relationship as well as the influence on HCC cell proliferation and migration. ⋯ miR-490-3p could down-regulate the expression of AURKA, thus suppressing the proliferation and migration of HCC cells.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is rapidly increasing in developed countries. In Taiwan, the incidence rate of CRC has increased during the past decade, but the 5-year survival has remained at approximately 63%. In this study, we sought to determine the 5-year survival rate of patients diagnosed with colon and rectum cancer and to determine factors affecting survival. ⋯ The long-term survival from CRC, colon cancer and rectum cancer remains promising, as 68.66%, 69.11% and 67.90% of patients are alive 5 years after being diagnosed, respectively. Perineural invasion was found to be an important factor related to the survival of patients who have CRC. Thus, early detection of CRC may help improve survival.
