Central precocious puberty (CPP) is a rare disease of poorly understood etiology. The cause is mostly idiopathic. However, congenital and acquired structural changes in the central nervous system are also involved. ⋯ Proper diagnosis and treatment make it possible to avoid a number of complications of untreated CPP. There are only a few studies analyzing the prevalence and risk factors for the disease. The aim of this paper is to discuss the current causes of CPP with particular consideration of neurological aspects.

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is associated with severe clinical outcomes. MicroRNA (miR)-210 has been reported to be related to T2DM and lipid metabolism. This study aimed to determine whether miR-210 can predict the effects of glimepiride and linagliptin on NAFLD with T2DM. ⋯ Linagliptin was not significantly different from glimepiride in improving the hepatic and renal functions and in reducing the blood lipid level. miR-210 expression was linked to blood glucose and lipid levels and hepatic function, which indicates its role as a prognostic biomarker in the treatment of NAFLD with T2DM using linagliptin and glimepiride.

Mobile social media is a new type of online media that is participatory, open, and communicative, among other characteristics. Due to the increasing popularity of social media, this technology has become an indispensable part of people's social lives. This study aims to examine the relationship between childhood psychological maltreatment and social media addiction among university students as well as the mediating role of fear of missing out and the moderating effect of left-behind experience in this context. ⋯ Childhood psychological maltreatment can predict social media addiction among university students not only directly but also indirectly through the mediating role of missed anxiety. The direct effect of childhood psychological maltreatment on social media addiction is moderated by left-behind experience. The first half of the mediating role of missed anxiety is also moderated by left-behind experience.

Pancreatic cancer (PC) is a common malignant tumor of the digestive system, posing a serious threat to the life of patients. This study aims to investigate the role of LINC00847 and the LINC00847/miR-455-3p/HDAC4 mechanism in PC progression. ⋯ Our findings reveal that LINC00847 potentially plays a key role in the carcinogenesis of PC progression. This effect may be mediated via regulating the miR-455-3p/HDAC4 axis. This study provides insights into the intricate molecular mechanisms underlying PC and opens avenues for potential therapeutic interventions.

There is a growing body of evidence supporting the role of customized growth charts in improving detection of fetal growth restriction (FGR) and decreasing false positive diagnoses. The aim of the study is to produce a customised birthweight standard for Poland. ⋯ The analysis confirmed the physiological variables that affect birthweight in studies from other countries and was able to quantify additional pathological factors of high maternal age and pregnancy-induced hypertension. Comparison with the Fenton standard showed that adverse outcomes associated with SGA birthweight are better identified by the customised standard in a Polish population.
