Thyroid cancers are the most common malignancy of the endocrine system. Increasing evidence has suggested potential roles for cancer susceptibility candidate 15 (CASC15) in thyroid cancer. Papillary thyroid cancer (PTC) accounts for 80% of thyroid cancer, posing a great threat to public health. The present study aims to investigate the potential roles of CASC15 in PTC. ⋯ Downregulated CASC15 inhibited the proliferation, migration and invasion of thyroid cancer. Therefore, CASC15 may be an oncogene in thyroid cancer and may serve as a target marker for the treatment of thyroid cancer.

The purpose of the study was to determine the correlation between biological subtype of breast cancer and the risk of its metastasis to a sentinel lymph node. ⋯ According to our analysis luminal breast cancers are most numerous subtypes, and in these cases we expect more frequent instances of metastasis to a sentinel node. Following the most updated and modern procedures of breast cancer patients' treatment a procedure of sentinel lymph node biopsy is used, replacing an aggressive treatment in the axilla region. In regards to our analysis we should be more vigilant in estimation of regional lymph nodes in luminal patients under sixty with high grade tumours and the tumour diameter more than 20 mm.

Ankle instability is a common injury in athletes, affecting the quality of life, functional limitation, as well as static and dynamic balance. The aim of the study was to compare the efficacy of virtual reality and Biodex balance training in the treatment of ankle instability in adolescent athletes. ⋯ Virtual reality training has a significant effect which appears to be similar to the Biodex balance training in adolescent athletes with chronic ankle instability.

Percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI) in bifurcations are still challenging and are associated with higher risks of periprocedural complications as well as restenosis and stent thrombosis. The aim of this paper was to summarize 12 months of clinical results of the prospective, first-in-man registry assessing the BiOSS LIM C stent (Balton, Poland). ⋯ Our registry might suggest that PCI using the BiOSS LIM C in coronary bifurcations is feasible and might be an option for percutaneous revascularization.

Autophagy occurs in response to myocardial ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury and plays both a protective and detrimental role in this pathological process. Dichloroacetate (DCA) has a protective role during myocardial I/R injury, but its effects on autophagy induction are less well understood. We established a rat myocardial I/R injury model and investigated the effects of DCA on autophagy induction. ⋯ DCA contributes to I/R injury protection through the regulation of autophagy and glucose homeostasis.
