Patients are qualified for an adrenalectomy due to endocrine or oncologic reasons. Final histopathological diagnoses include a wide spectrum of more than a dozen entities. The aim of this study was to compare preoperative and postoperative diagnoses of patients undergoing adrenalectomy to determine the level of diagnostic accuracy, as well as sex and age of patients. ⋯ The lowest diagnostic accuracy is observed in cases of pheochromocytoma and adrenal cyst. Meticulous preparation of the patient for hormonal tests, including discontinuation of certain medications, is essential for obtaining accurate results. The diagnosis of Cushing's syndrome is more prevalent in females, while metastasis syndrome is more prevalent in males. Adrenocortical carcinoma may initially be diagnosed as a non-functioning tumor (1.6% of such cases) or a recurrence of a previously resected tumor, which should always raise a suspicion of a malignant neoplasm.

Accumulating studies have shown that copper has a detrimental effect in cells, and the cuproptosis-related gene signatures have been constructed as clinical tools to predict prognosis in tumors. However, the heterogeneity of cuproptosis has not been fully investigated in ischemic stroke. Methods: Here, we combined the bulk RNA-seq and single cell-RNA-seq data for stroke to investigate the role of cuproptosis in stroke. ⋯ Our findings revealed cuproptosis-related hub genes, which could provide useful biomarkers in ischemic stroke.

Diabetic nephropathy (DN) is a leading cause of kidney failure. Lysozyme (LYZ) is an essential component of innate immunity and exhibits antibacterial properties. However, LYZ has been reported to induce nephropathy, implying a possible association between impaired renal function and lysozyme expression. ⋯ Lysozyme promotes kidney fibrosis via the JAK/STAT3 signaling pathway in diabetic nephropathy, and glucose may promote fibroblast proliferation by promoting LYZ auto-secretion.

Many noninfectious pulmonary complications occur immediately within the first few weeks after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT). This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of chest physical therapy (CPT) performed during the pre-transplant period in terms of spirometric values and respiratory muscle strength (RMS) in patients waiting for allo-HSCT. ⋯ Adding a 3-week CPT intervention to the pre-transplant rehabilitation program seems to be effective and safe for allo-HSCT recipients, as it improves pre-transplant pulmonary function and respiratory muscle strength and prevents their post-transplant decrease.

Impairments in wound healing commonly occur among patients with diabetes. Herbal medicines have a long history of usage in wound care management. Super green (SG) is a newly discovered natural product obtained from Musa paradisiaca. This study aimed to investigate the efficacy of the topical application of SG in healing surgical wounds in diabetic rats. ⋯ These results show that the most therapeutically efficacious concentration of SG (1/6000 dilution) can enhance wound repair in diabetic rats. SG has the potential to be a new treatment strategy for diabetic wounds.
