Prevalence of youth nicotine vaping has increased, heightening concerns around negative health effects. This study aimed to compare self-reported respiratory symptoms among youth by vaping behaviours. ⋯ Among youth, vaping was associated with increased reporting of past-week respiratory symptoms. Among those who vaped, some flavour types and potentially nicotine salts were associated with respiratory symptoms.

Mucosal melanoma (MM) is a rare but devastating subtype of melanoma. Our previous studies have demonstrated robust anti-tumor effects of cyclin-dependent kinase 4/6 (CDK 4/6) inhibitors in head and neck MM (HNMM) patient-derived xenograft models with CDK4 amplification. Herein, we aimed to investigate the efficacy and safety of dalpiciclib (SHR6390), a CDK4/6 inhibitor, in HNMM patients harboring CDK4 amplification. ⋯ Dalpiciclib was well-tolerated and displayed a durable benefit for HNMM patients with CDK4 amplification in this study. Further studies on CDK4 inhibitors and its combination strategy for MM are worth further exploration.

Heavy menstrual bleeding (HMB) is a common menstrual disorder associated with multiple risk factors of cardiovascular disease (CVD) in women. In addition, HMB is often present with irregular menstruation (IM) which is a risk factor for CVD outcomes. However, the relationship between HMB and CVD outcomes is unexplored in the presence or absence of IM. We determined the association of HMB with multiple CVD outcomes using a nationally representative sample of female hospitalizations in the US. ⋯ HMB is associated with CVD events among US hospitalizations of young women. A routine investigation and screening of menstrual disorders, especially HMB, is useful for CVD risk stratification and management in young women.

Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS) is an emerging tick-borne infectious disease, and its morbidity and mortality are increasing. At present, there is no specific therapy available. An exacerbated IFN-I response and cytokine storm are related to the mortality of patients with SFTS. Ruxolitinib is a Janus kinase (JAK) 1/2 inhibitor that can block proinflammatory cytokines and inhibit the type I IFN pathway. We aimed to explore the use of ruxolitinib plus standard of care for severe SFTS. ⋯ ChiCTR2200063759, September 16, 2022.

Numerous studies have been conducted to investigate the relationship between ABO and Rhesus (Rh) blood groups and various health outcomes. However, a comprehensive evaluation of the robustness of these associations is still lacking. ⋯ Our findings suggest a potential relationship between ABO and Rh blood groups and adverse health outcomes. Particularly the association between blood group B and type 2 diabetes mellitus risk.
