The anti-PD-1 monoclonal antibody pembrolizumab has been shown to be associated with a good response in patients with metastatic gastric cancer. Excellent therapeutic results of pembrolizumab have been shown in patients with tumours showing a high microsatellite instability (MSI) and Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) positivity. ⋯ EBV-encoded RNA was detected in nine patients. None of them exhibited Her-2 overexpression or CMV infection. PD-L1 was detected in twelve patients. Ten patients were MLH1 positive. All nine cases of EBV infection showed a high expression of PD-L1 and MLH-1 (Tab. 1, Ref. 14).

Glucosamine derivatives have been found to have anticancer effects in many cancer cell lines in previous investigations. The effect of glucosamine sulfate on neuroblastoma, however, is uncertain. The potential cytotoxic effects of glucosamine sulfate on the SH-SY5Y cell line were investigated in this study. The underlying mechanisms of this cytotoxicity have also been studied. ⋯ Altogether, glucosamine sulfate produced considerable cytotoxicity in SH-SY5Y cells by triggering oxidative stress, inducing DNA damage, and finally causing apoptosis. In addition, more research is needed to determine the efficacy of glucosamine sulfate as an anticancer drug in the treatment of neuroblastoma (Fig. 5, Ref. 39).

The present study evaluated vitamin D therapy in migraine patients with vitamin D deficiency and EEG abnormality. ⋯ Vitamin D therapy positively affects attack frequency and PedMIDAS scores in migraine patients with vitamin D deficiency/insufficiency. No association was determined between EEG findings and vitamin D levels or therapy (Tab. 6, Ref. 35).

After an acute treatment for coronavirus disease (COVID-19), some symptoms may persist for several weeks, for example: fatigue, headaches, muscle and joint pain, cough, loss of taste and smell, sleep and memory disturbances, depression. Many viruses manipulate mitochondrial function, but the exact mechanisms of SARS-CoV-2 virus effect remain unclear. We tested the hypothesis that SARS-CoV-2 virus may affect mitochondrial energy production and endogenous biosynthesis of coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10). ⋯ We assume that a reduced concentration of endogenous CoQ10 may partially block electron transfer in the respiratory chain resulting in a reduced adenosine triphosphate (ATP) production in the patients after COVID-19. Targeted mitochondrial therapy with CoQ10 supplementation and spa rehabilitation may improve mitochondrial health and accelerate the recovery of the patients after COVID-19. Platelet mitochondrial function and CoQ10 content may be useful mitochondrial health biomarkers after SARS-CoV-2 infection (Tab. 3, Fig. 3, Ref. 46).

Analysing the results of patients with odontogenic descending necrotising mediastinitis (DNM) treated predominantly by transcervical approach. ⋯ This study supports the role of transcervical mediastinal drainage as an alternative approach in the surgical treatment of odontogenic DNM (Tab. 4, Fig. 2, Ref. 30).
