There are very few studies in the literature focusing on whether dexmedetomidine exerts a protective effect on colistin nephrotoxicity. Our study aims to investigate the nephroprotective effect of dexmedetomidine in an experimental model of nephrotoxicity in rats. ⋯ Dexmedetomidine significantly decreased the elevated levels of BUN, Creatinine, KIM-1, and Endothelin-1 induced by colistin. Dexmedetomidine, at both doses, histopathologically prevented apoptosis and reduced the number of necrotic cells in the kidneys. Dexmedetomidine provides renoprotective effects, therefore it is a valuable sedation agent for clinicians working in intensive care units (Tab. 2, Fig. 4, Ref. 19). The present study aims to explore the effects of enteral nutrition (EN) semi-curing feeding on nutritional diarrhoea in the patients with stroke. ⋯ EN semi-curing feeding could improve EN-related diarrhoea and nutritional status levels in patients with stroke (Tab. 3, Ref. 9).

The novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic has had a profound global impact economically, socially, and in many other areas. As vaccines are developed and introduced, their effect on the disease on both, the global and individual scale is a subject of intense curiosity. This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between risk factors for hospitalization, disease severity, and vaccination status in COVID-19 inpatients in a pandemic hospital. ⋯ The results of our study indicate that age, disease severity, comorbidities, and vaccination status were factors affecting COVID-19 mortality. Our findings support that full vaccination reduces COVID-19 -related mortality rates, disease severity, and length of hospital stay. However, large-scale studies with larger patient populations are needed (Tab. 2, Ref. 22).

The aim of the present study was to determine the prognostic value of thrombocytopenia, platelet indices (MPV/PLT and PDW/PLT) in children with septic shock. ⋯ Platelet indices are useful laboratory parameters in septic shock. MPV/PLT and PDW/PLT ratios can be promising reliable markers for 28-day mortality in children with septic shock (Tab. 4, Fig. 1, Ref. 29).

Observational Study
Characteristics of COPD patients treated with single‑inhaler triple therapy in real-life clinical practice.
Inflammation associated with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) causes narrowing of the airways and destruction of the lung parenchyma. The triple therapy (ICS+LABA+LAMA) may improve lung function, patient‑reported outcomes, and exacerbation risk in a specified subset of GOLD group D patients. A better understanding of the factors leading to the single‑inhaler triple therapy (SITT) prescription in real-life scenario is still an unmet need. ⋯ Despite current treatment, the burden of COPD remains significant in GOLD group D patients. The lung function, symptoms burden and exacerbation history are among the most important factors involved in the decision for stepping up to SITT with potential roles of both bronchodilator and anti-inflammatory components (Tab. 2, Fig. 9, Ref. 66).
