Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudySafety and efficacy of T-614 in the treatment of patients with active rheumatoid arthritis: a double blind, randomized, placebo-controlled and multicenter trial.
A novel anti-rheumatic drug, T-614, has been shown to have an anti-inflammatory effect and to improve abnormal immunological findings in rheumatoid arthritis (RA). To assess the safety and efficacy of T-614 versus placebo in patients with active RA we conducted a 24-week clinical study in 280 Chinese patients. ⋯ T-614, a new slow-acting drug, is effective in treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and is well tolerated.

Multicenter StudyEconomic analysis in admitted patients with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
The socio-economic burden of acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AECOPD) in Beijing is not fully understood. The study investigated the hospitalization cost in patients with AECOPD and the associated factors. ⋯ AECOPD had a great impact on healthcare resources utilization. Disease severity, use of non-invasive or invasive ventilation, ICU stay and usage of antibiotics and systemic steroids were the major determinants of hospitalization cost. Long-term regular treatment aimed at reducing the frequency of acute exacerbation will lower the social and economic burden of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study Comparative StudyProspective multicenter randomized trial comparing physician versus patient transfer for primary percutaneous coronary intervention in acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction.
Primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) has been identified as the first therapeutic option for patients with acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). The strategy of transferring patient to a PCI center was recently recommended for those with acute STEMI who were present to PCI incapable hospitals, which include lack of facilities or experienced operators. In China, some local hospitals have been equipped with PCI facilities, but they have no interventional physicians qualified for performing primary PCI. This study was conducted to assess the feasibility, safety and efficacy of the strategy of transferring physician to a PCI-equipped hospital to perform primary PCI for patients with acute STEMI. ⋯ The strategy of transferring physician to local hospital to perform primary PCI for patients with acute STEMI is feasible, safe and efficient in reducing the door-to-balloon time and 30-day MACE rate.

Multicenter StudyPredictive factors of recurrent angina after acute coronary syndrome: the global registry acute coronary events from China (Sino-GRACE).
Many patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) develop recurrent angina (RA) during hospitalization. The aim of this non-randomized, prospective study was to investigate the predictive factors of RA in unselected patients with ACS enrolled in the global registry acute coronary events (GRACE) during hospitalization in China. ⋯ In-hospital congestive heart failure, myocardial re-infarction, prior angina history and use of heparin are stronger independent predictors of RA; beta-blockers and PCI are also important predictive factors for RA.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyEarly use of non-invasive positive pressure ventilation for acute exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease: a multicentre randomized controlled trial.
Respiratory muscle fatigue plays an important role in acute exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AECOPD). In previous clinical studies, non-invasive positive pressure ventilation (NPPV) was proved to be successful only for AECOPD patients with severe respiratory failure. We hypothesized that, the outcomes of AECOPD would be improved if NPPV is early (within 24 to 48 hours of admission) administered in those patients with respiratory muscle fatigue and mild respiratory insufficiency, especially in patients without fulfilling the conventional criteria of mechanical ventilatory support. ⋯ The early use of NPPV on general ward improves arterial blood gas and respiratory pattern, decreases the rate of need for intubation in AECOPD patients. NPPV is indicative for alleviating respiratory muscle fatigue and preventing respiratory failure from exacerbation.
