T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL) is a common hematologic malignancy. Based on the data from GSE66638 and GSE141140, T-ALL patients depicted a higher USP44 level. However, its role in T-ALL is still unclear. ⋯ Consistently, the in vivo study revealed that USP44 knockdown restricted the leukemic engraftments in the bone marrow and spleens and reduced the infiltration of T-ALL cells in the livers and lungs. In conclusion, this study indicated that USP44 enhanced the growth of T-ALL through interacting with WDR5 and repressing its ubiquitination. This study highlights the potential use of USP44 as a therapeutic target of T-ALL.

The fibroblast growth factor (FGF) pathway plays an important role in epithelial-mesenchymal interactions during tooth development. Nevertheless, how the ligands, receptors, and antagonists of the FGF pathway are involved in epithelial-mesenchymal interactions remains largely unknown. Miniature pigs exhibit tooth anatomy and replacement patterns like those in humans and hence can serve as large animal models. ⋯ Mesenchyme signals of FGF3, FGF4, FGF7, SPRY2, FGFR2, and FGFR3 were concentrated in the odontoblast layer from E50 to E60. The distinct expression patterns of these molecules indicated elaborate regulation during dental morphogenesis. Our results provide a foundation for further investigation into fine-tuning dental morphogenesis and odontogenesis by controlling interactions between dental epithelium and mesenchyme, thus promoting tooth regeneration in large mammals.

Background: Few studies have investigated the association between muscle mass and bone mineral density (BMD) in patients undergoing peritoneal dialysis (PD). We aimed to investigate the association between muscle mass or strength and BMD in patients undergoing PD. Methods: The data of all prevalent PD cases at a tertiary medical center between September 2017 and November 2020 were collected. ⋯ The association between BMD and HGS was more definitive in female patients than in male patients (r = 0.357 and P = 0.001). Univariate and mutivariate linear regression and AUROC analyses showed similar trends those obtained in correlation analyses. Conclusion: The present study demonstrated that BMD is associated with the ALM index in male patients and with HGS in female patients undergoing PD.

Uterine corpus endometrial carcinoma (UCEC) is one of the most common types of cancer in women, and the incidence is rapidly increasing. Studies have shown that various signaling pathways serve crucial roles in the tumorigenesis of UCEC, amongst which the Wnt/β-catenin pathway is of great interest due to its crucial role in cell proliferation and the huge potential as a therapeutic target. ⋯ Besides, the results suggested that FBXO17 may inhibit the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway and influence the expression of adhesion molecules, such as E-cadherin and N-cadherin in Ishikawa cells. In conclusion, these findings indicate that FBXO17 is a novel inhibitor of endometrial tumor development and it likely exerts effects via regulation of the Wnt signaling pathway.

Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) is notorious for the rapid progression especially early tumor metastasis due to the unclear mechanism. Recently, ETV5 attracts much attention for its potential role as an oncogenic transcription factor involved in multiple cancers. However, no one reported the mechanism behind the association between ETV5 expression and esophageal squamous cell carcinoma progression. ⋯ In conclusion, ETV5 was associated with ESCC tumor staging and ESCC prognosis clinically. ETV5 promoted metastasis of ESCC by activating MMPs through augmenting the transcription of SKA1 and TRPV2. ETV5 was likely to be a novel oncogene and therapeutic target in ESCC.
