Coronary microvascular disease (CMVD) is a high risk factor for many cardiovascular events. Due to the limited understanding of its pathophysiological mechanism, modern medicine still lacks therapeutic drugs for CMVD. Existing clinical studies have shown that traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) can effectively improve the clinical symptoms and quality of life of CMVD patients. ⋯ In the face of numerous oral CPMs for treatment of CMVD, how to choose a reasonable medication regimen is one of the important issues in clinic. Based on this, this paper reviewed the clinical efficacy and recommended level of 12 CPMs in the treatment of CMVD, which are recommended by expert consensus on diagnosis and treatment of coronary microvascular disease with integrated Chinese and Western medicine (WM). In addition, this study also systematically summarized the possible mechanisms of CPMs in the treatment of CMVD by protecting coronary microvascular endothelial cells, improving vascular endothelial function, inhibiting inflammation, reducing oxidative stress, promoting angiogenesis, and improving hemorheology, aiming to provide meaningful information for its clinical application.

A functional evaluation of anti-fatigue and exercise performance improvement following vitamin B complex supplementation in healthy humans, a randomized double-blind trial.
B vitamins play a crucial role in maintaining fundamental cellular functions and various essential metabolic pathways in the body. Although they do not directly provide energy, each B vitamin acts as a cofactor in energy metabolism processes. Based on the evidence presented above, we hypothesized that a 28-day supplementation of vitamin B would enhance physical performance and reduce physical fatigue. ⋯ In addition, the Ex PLUS® supplementation group presented significantly reduced blood lactate and blood ammonia concentrations during exercise and at rest after exercise compared with placebo (p < 0.05). In conclusion, 28 consecutive days of vitamin B complex (Ex PLUS®) supplementation significantly improved exercise endurance performance and reduced exercise fatigue biochemical metabolites in not athletes. In addition, it does not cause adverse effects in humans when taken at appropriate doses.

Lung cancer is one of the most frequently diagnosed cancers worldwide. Due to its late diagnosis, it remains the leading cause of cancer-related deaths. ⋯ These highly ordered membrane domains contain proteins such as caveolins and flotillins, which were traditionally considered scaffold proteins but have currently been given a preponderant role in lung cancer. Here, we summarize current knowledge regarding the involvement of caveolins and flotillins in lung cancer from a molecular point of view.

Objective: Hyperprolactinemia (HPRL) and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) are common causes of infertility in women of reproductive age. A pituitary adenoma (PA) is the most common type of brain tumor that causes HPRL. In the neurosurgical field, the co-existence of PA and PCOS is not common. ⋯ PCOS patients with a PRL level of ≥ 52.9 ng/mL may need to undergo sella MRI for detecting PAs. To help ensure a favorable clinical course for these patients, systematic diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up plan should be established. Therefore, a multidisciplinary approach involving both neurosurgery and gynecology is essential.

The effect of combining prewarming with intraoperative phenylephrine infusion on the prevention of hypothermia in patients undergoing urological surgery: a prospective, randomized, and controlled trial.
Background: Hypothermia is common in patients undergoing urological surgery; however, no single preventative modality is completely effective. This study evaluated the effects of combining prewarming with intraoperative phenylephrine infusion for the prevention of hypothermia in patients undergoing urological surgery. Methods: This prospective study enrolled 58 patients scheduled for urological surgery under general anesthesia. ⋯ The nasopharyngeal temperature at the end of surgery was lower in the C group than in the PP group (35.8 ± 0.6°C vs. 36.3 ± 0.4°C, P = 0.002). The trend of core temperature decline during the first hour after anesthesia induction differed between the two groups (P = 0.003; its decline was more gradual in the PP group). Conclusions: The combination of prewarming for 20 min and intraoperative phenylephrine infusion reduced the incidence and severity of intraoperative hypothermia and modified the trend of decreasing core temperatures in patients undergoing urological surgery.
