Fear of cancer recurrence (FCR) is one of the most distressing concerns for cancer patients. A psychometrically validated brief scale is urgently needed for use in busy clinical oncology settings. This study aimed to (1) develop and validate the 7-item fear of cancer recurrence scale Chinese version (FCR7-C), and (2) explore the severity of FCR in post-operative early-stage lung cancer patients in Taiwan. ⋯ FCR7-C is a brief screening tool with good psychometrics. Patients with early-stage lung cancer still revealed mild to moderate level of FCR. Applying the FCR7-C for to screen cancer patients' distress and further develop personalized psychological interventions would be strongly suggested.

To investigate contemporary cardiovascular (CV) outcomes in Taiwanese patients with symptomatic low extremity peripheral artery disease treated with endovascular therapy. ⋯ Long-term survival and MACE-free rates were significantly worse in CLI patients than in claudicants. Malnutrition and inflammation were associated with long-term survival. CAD, low hematocrit, dialysis, CHF, and ambulatory status predicted future CV events.

Most patients who undergo two-stage exchange arthroplasty surgery for total knee arthroplasty prosthetic joint infection (TKA-PJI) receive a six-week course of systemic antibiotic treatment after the first stage procedure. However, the optimal duration of therapy has not been conclusively determined. ⋯ After the first stage of resection arthroplasty for a two-stage exchange arthroplasty, a short course of antibiotic treatment had similar implant survival rates in comparison to the standard 6-week course. With radical debridement combined with an antibiotic-loaded cement spacer along with serial monitoring of the patient, a short course antibiotic treatment may be adequate in patients with TKA-PJI.

Several medicaments have been used as alternatives to formocresol (FC) for pulpotomy in primary molars with deep carious lesions. However, no prospective study has observed and compared the outcomes of different medicaments. The aim of this prospective study was to compare 12- and 24-month success rates among sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl), ferric sulfate (FS), and mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) pulpotomies performed in primary molars. ⋯ NaOCl is easily available and less expensive than MTA, and our results suggest that the outcomes of NaOCl pulpotomy and MTA pulpotomy are similar. Therefore, NaOCl may be a practical alternative to FC for pulpotomy in primary molars.
