Pharmacokinetics and dosing of vancomycin in patients undergoing sustained low efficiency daily diafiltration (SLEDD-f): A prospective study.
The pharmacokinetics of vancomycin in patients who undergo sustained low efficiency daily diafiltration (SLEDD-f) is not clear. This study aimed to determine the appropriate vancomycin dosage regimen for patients receiving SLEDD-f. ⋯ Significant amount of vancomycin removed during SLEDD-f. Despite the existence of post-dialysis rebound, a sufficient supplemental dose is necessary to maintain therapeutic range.

This study aimed to investigate clinical features and antimicrobial susceptibility of inpatient children with nontyphoidal salmonellosis from 2010 to 2018. ⋯ Third-generation cephalosporin was still the drug of choice for nontyphoidal Salmonella infection in children though the resistant rate increased progressively. Significant risk factors associated with bacteremia were longer fever and diarrhea duration and anemia due to either thalassemia trait or prolonged disease course in immunocompetent children.

Leukemia cutis (LC), by definition, is the infiltration of neoplastic leukocytes in the skin. The overall incidence of LC is rare. We aimed to investigate the association between clinical characteristics, classifications and prognosis among different types of LC in Taiwan. ⋯ This study was the first large-scale research in regarding to LC of Han Chinese. The commonest clinical presentations were papules and nodules, and the predilection sites were trunk and extremities. Besides, there was the high frequency of LC from AML and MDS in Taiwan. Clinicians should pay more attention to the leukemia patients with extramedullary manifestations due to poor survival outcomes.

There is limited evidence available regarding when the best time to extract impacted lower third molars (iLM3). Thus, the current study is aimed to examine the association between the age of patients during the time of extraction of their iLM3 and the sequelae of their adjacent second molar (LM2) in order to find a better time to remove iLM3. ⋯ The age of patients having iLM3 extracted was independently associated with various LM2 sequelae. We suggest that patients can have their iLM3 extracted in their college/university age (19-22-year-old) to minimize complications on the adjacent LM2.

The biochemical response is a crucial indicator of prognosis in chronic hepatitis B (CHB) patients treated with nucleotide/nucleoside analogues (NAs). The impact of hepatitis D virus (HDV) infection on alanine aminotransferase normalization is elusive. ⋯ HDV infection played an important role in ALT abnormality in CHB patients receiving 1-year and 2-year NAs. The impact was particularly noted in patients who had successfully suppressed HBV DNA.
