Epileptic surgery is the potentially curative treatment for children with refractory seizures. The study aimed to quantify and analyze high frequency oscillation (HFO) ripples and interictal epileptiform discharges (EDs) in intraoperative electrocorticography (ECoG) between malformation of cortical dysplasia (MCD) and non-MCD children with MRI-lesional focal epilepsy, and evaluate of seizure outcomes after epileptic surgery. ⋯ Our results suggested that quantification of intraoperative ECoG predicted seizure outcomes and reflected different ED pattern and frequencies between MCD and non-dysplastic histopathology among children who underwent resective epileptic surgery. The results of our study were encouraging and indicated that intraoperative ECoG improved the outcomes of surgery in children with epilepsy.

To investigate the characteristics of subjective symptoms and objective parameters among young patients with dry eye disease (DED) and compare them with those of older patients. ⋯ Manifestations of DED vary with age. In our cohort, younger age patients had more symptoms and blinks, which may have resulted from thinner LLT as the structure and function of the meibomian glands were affected less than in middle and older age patients.

Healthcare workers (HCWs) are at the frontline during the pandemic of COVID-19 globally. According to the WHO situation report at April 17, there were 22, 073 HCWs contracted the infection. Whether the infection control policy and practice in the hospital setting can protect the HCWs is an important issue. ⋯ The cross-sectional serology study in a tertiary care hospital in Taiwan revealed no HCWs had positive serology response to SARS-CoV-2. We believe that the infection control policy and practice in the hospital and in the community are both important to prevent the disease transmission.

To describe the prognostic factors and survival outcomes in patients who underwent orbital exenteration surgery at a tertiary center over a 20-year period. ⋯ We found worse prognosis with positive lymphovascular invasion. Although not significant, malignant melanoma showed poorer survival times compared to sebaceous gland carcinoma. Close follow-up, especially in the first 2 years after orbital exenteration, is crucial to identify disease recurrence.
