Radium-223 is an alpha-emitting, bone-targeting radiopharmaceutical that confers a survival benefit in patients with confirmed bone-metastatic, castration-resistant prostate cancer with no visceral metastases. We studied real-world use of radium-223 in eligible patients from a tertiary hospital. ⋯ Radium-223 had early biochemical benefits, while in the later stages of the disease, it reduced bone pain in this real-world cohort of chemotherapy-naive, NAH-naive patients, and patients with prior therapy, from a tertiary institution in Taiwan.

The number of psychiatrists working in community clinics in Taiwan has increased dramatically in the recent decade. This study aimed to investigate the trend of prevalence and incidence of depressive disorders and assess the quality of depression care between 2007 and 2016 in Taiwan. ⋯ The community-based psychiatric services increased and the quality indicators of depression care in Taiwan improved during 2007-2016. The causality warrants further investigations.

The study aimed to assess the clinical characteristics of patients with nocardiosis, to evaluate the in vitro susceptibility of antimicrobial agents against Nocardia species, and to explore changes in antimicrobial susceptibilities in this era of multidrug resistance. ⋯ Considering that trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole is effective against most Nocardia species, it is the antibiotic of choice in Taiwan. Besides, amikacin, tigecycline, and linezolid showed high activity against Nocardia species and are thus good alternatives or additional therapies to treat nocardiosis, depending on patient's underlying conditions and site of infection.

The COVID-19 pandemic has rapidly become a major challenge for global health care systems and affected other priorities such as the utilization of population-based cancer screening services. We sought to examine to what extent the COVID-19 pandemic has affected cancer screening utilization in Taiwan, even the use of inreach and outreach screening services for different types of cancer screening and different regions. ⋯ The COVID-19 pandemic may have had an effect not only in the utilization of different types of cancer screening but also in the preference between inreach and outreach services, and even in variations in screening services in different regions.

Previously we had identified concurrent genes, which highlighted the interplay between copy number variation (CNV) and differential gene expression (GE) for Han Chinese breast cancers. The merit of the approach is to discovery biomarkers not identifiable by conventional GE only data, for which phenotype-correlation or gene variability is the criteria of gene selection. ⋯ We concluded that through parallel analyses of CGH and GE microarrays, the proposed extended concurrent gene expression signature can identify biomarkers with prognostic values.
