Crestal bone stability, implant rigidity and occlusal loading are issues with small-diameter implants. This article demonstrates the use of two small-diameter implants replacing a missing wide edentulous site and discusses factors that may affect bone changes. ⋯ Using two narrow or regular-diameter implants to replace a single edentulous site measured around 12-14 mm wide in posterior region seemed to be a feasible treatment option. It is especially suitable for sites with ridge atrophy and/or patients suffering from systemic diseases.

The intergenic SNP rs10865331 at 2p15 was identified as a major risk factor for ankylosing spondylitis (AS) susceptibility in genome-wide association studies (GWAS). B3GNT2 gene regulates polylactosamine synthesis is potentially functionally relevant to AS disease development. We investigated whether SNP rs10865331 and two B3GNT2 SNPs (rs11900673 and rs1136151) are associated with AS susceptibility and disease severity in Taiwanese. ⋯ Our data suggest that B3GNT2 gene may contribute to AS development and affect AS severity by interacting with HLA-B27 in Taiwanese.

Switching to a tenofovir alafenamide (TAF)-containing regimen has been reported to be associated with body weight gain in human immunodeficiency virus-infected subjects. We aimed to investigate the body weight change and virological, hepatic, and renal outcomes of TAF switching among chronic hepatitis B (CHB) patients. ⋯ In real-world NUC-experienced CHB patients, unexpected body weight gain was observed after TAF switching. The mechanism needs to be investigated in the future.

Several risk scores have been developed to predict symptomatic intracerebral hemorrhage (SICH) after acute reperfusion therapy for ischemic stroke. We compared the performance of established risk scores in predicting SICH after EVT under different SICH criteria. ⋯ Among various risk scores, the TAG and SEDAN scores best predict SICH after EVT. Higher glucose level and unsuccessful recanalization, which are included in the TAG and SEDAN scores, are independent risk factors of SICH in the present cohort, highlighting their detrimental effects.

Patient delay of COVID-19 patients occurs frequently, which poses a challenge to the overall epidemic situation. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the extent of patient delay, explore its factors, and investigate the effects of patient interval on epidemic situation. ⋯ Identification and quarantine of close contacts, promoting the spatial accessibility to fever clinics and creating public awareness are crucial to shortening patient delays to flat the curve for COVID-19.
