Purpose: This study aimed to directly compare the utility of liver stiffness (LS) and spleen stiffness (SS) at sustained virologic response (SVR) for predicting hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and non-HCC events in patients with chronic hepatitis C (CHC) after direct-acting antiviral therapy. ⋯ Post-SVR LS better predicts HCC risk. Post-SVR SS helps predict non-HCC risk after antiviral therapy for CHC. LS and SS at SVR provide complementary prognostic information regarding risks of HCC and non-HCC events in the post-SVR setting. Further validation is warranted in larger cohorts.

There are no reported case series of common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) from southern Taiwan. A 20-year review was performed in adult CVID from a southern Taiwan medical center. Patients with ages of 18 years or older were enrolled from May, 2003 to April, 2023. ⋯ Patients with higher IgG trough levels (above 500 mg/dL) had a better survival than those with lower IgG trough levels. Adult CVID in southern Taiwan has a high occurrence of autoimmune and lymphoproliferative manifestations. Early diagnosis with IVIg infusion might improve the presentations.

The study aimed to describe respiratory syncytial virus infections among hospitalized adults between January 2021 and February 2023 from a single medical center in Taiwan. Clinical information from infected patients with RSV was via medical charts review. ⋯ A quarter of infected patients required intensive care with overall mortality reached 26.3 % and the readmission rates within 30 days after was 15.8 %. Our study results suggests that RSV infections among adults could cause a substantial disease burden on healthcare systems.

Endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) is a time-sensitive treatment for acute ischemic stroke with large vessel occlusion. To optimize transfer efficiency, a web-based platform was introduced in the Tainan Stroke Network (TSN). We assessed its application and effectiveness in regional stroke care. ⋯ This new web-based EVT transfer system provides notable improvements in clinical outcomes, transfer efficiency, and EVT execution for potential EVT candidates without markedly changing the regional stroke care paradigm.
