The aim of the present systematic review and meta-analysis was to evaluate the therapeutic efficacy of bosentan, a dual endothelin receptor antagonist, for systemic sclerosis (SSc) patients with digital ulcers (DUs). ⋯ Bosentan possibly is an efficacious treatment option for SSc-related DUs. Although further large-scale randomized clinical trials are required to confirm the preliminary finding and underlying mechanisms of action.

Family-centered collaborative care for patients with chronic mental illness: A systematic review.
Chronic mental illnesses (CMI) are long lasting and reoccurring and require continuous care as well as an integrated and collaborative approach to organize the care. This study sought to examine whether family centered collaborative care is an acceptable treatment option for individuals with CMI. ⋯ The findings demonstrated that family involvement in the care of patients with CMI affects no recurrence of the disease, and no re hospitalization of patients with this disorder. As a result, engaging family members in the care process can have a positive impact on the health and well being of these patients.

Human T-cell lymph tropic virus type 1 (HTLV-I)-related myelopathy/tropical spastic paraparesis (TSP) is a progressive inflammatory process affecting the spinal cord that occurs as a result of HTLV 1. The use of nonpharmacological approaches has always been one of the treatment strategies in these patients, but disagreement about these interventions and their results has led to their limited use. Therefore, this study aimed to identify nonpharmacological interventions and their consequences in these patients. ⋯ The most common physical therapy method used in studies was active and passive body movements, which are associated with positive results for patients. Due to the small sample size in this group of studies, it is necessary to conduct more clinical trials for more accurate conclusions. Furthermore, due to the limited number of studies that have used electrical stimulation or combined intervention packages, it is not possible to say with certainty what effect these methods have on patients. It is necessary to conduct more clinical trials.

There is a paucity of systematic reviews on the associated factors of mortality among ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). This meta-analysis was designed to synthesize available evidence on the prevalence and associated factors of mortality after PCI for adult patients with STEMI. ⋯ The pooled prevalence of mortality after PCI for STEMI patients was 10%, and 17 risk factors were significantly associated with mortality for STEMI patients after PCI.

The denervation or activation of the sympathetic nerve in the kidney can affect renal hemodynamics. The sympathetic nervous system regulates the physiological functions of the kidneys. Stimulation of sympathetic efferent nerves affects various parameters related to renal hemodynamics, including sodium excretion, renin secretion, and renal blood flow (RBF). ⋯ The effect of renal sympathetic denervation on RBF is dependent on several factors such as interspecies differences, the basic level of nerve activity in the vessels or local density of adrenergic receptor in the vascular bed. The role of renal denervation has been investigated therapeutically in hypertension and related disorders. Hence, the dynamic impact of renal nerves on RBF enables using RBF dynamic criteria as a marker for renal denervation therapy.
