Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) and short-term comorbidity data moderate-to-late preterm (MLP) infants in Saudi Arabia are limited. ⋯ Any-stage ROP incidence among MLP infants was low, with no type 1 ROP cases requiring treatment. Short-term comorbidity incidence was relatively high among the moderate preterm infants. Despite the low non-type 1 ROP incidence at our center, MLP infants require proper surveillance of systemic short-term comorbidities.

Children infected with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) may be more prone to helminthic infestation because they have depleted immunity, which increases their susceptibility to infection and infestations, even with minimally pathogenic organisms such as helminths. ⋯ There was a significantly higher prevalence of helminthic infestation among HIV-infected children compared to their HIV-negative counterparts. The severity of intestinal helminthiasis was significantly associated with decreasing CD4+ count.

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has led to a significant increase in global mortality rates. Numerous studies have been conducted to identify the factors associated with mortality in COVID-19 cases. In these studies, overall mortality was evaluated in patients, and no distinction was made as ward or intensive care mortality. ⋯ In this study, we may predict mortality among COVID-19-diagnosed patients admitted to the ward via this model which has the potential to provide guidance for reconsidering the indications for intensive care unit (ICU) admission.

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of dental caries and oral health of patients on salivary cytokine levels with Hashimoto's thyroiditis (HT). ⋯ The salivary cytokine levels decrease and the inflammatory response improves when the inflammation in the periodontal tissues and dental caries is treated.

Compomers are restorative materials commonly used in pediatric dentistry. It is important to investigate the monomer release of materials used especially in pediatric patients. The aim of this study was to evaluate the residual monomer released from different-colored flowable compomers at five polymerization times. ⋯ According to the study, when the total amount of residual monomer released from all groups was compared, no difference was found and it was observed that none of them exceeded the toxic dose. Flowable colored compomers can be used as safely as white compomers in pediatric dentistry.
