This study aimed to describe inpatient clinical conditions at an advanced care facility in Saudi Arabia during the annual Hajj pilgrimage and to determine factors correlating with length of stay (LOS). ⋯ Most of admissions were referrals, and the main Hajj period witnessed the majority of admissions. The vast majority of inpatients eventually discharged in a stable condition. Determinants of the length of hospital stay were the mode of admission, admission period, admitting department, number of comorbidities and ICU admission.

To investigate the effects of levels of D-dimer and N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT-pro BNP) on the prognosis of patients with acute cerebral infarction. ⋯ The levels of plasma NT-pro BNP and D-dimer can reflect the disease condition and prognosis of patients with acute cerebral infarction. Higher levels of NT-pro BNP and D-dimer indicates poorer prognosis. This work can provide a guidance for the clinical treatment of acute cerebral infarction.

To evaluate the intraocular pressure (IOP), central corneal thickness (CCT), and peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness in Patients with Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome. ⋯ The study results suggest that peripapillary RNFL thickness, IOP or CCT did not differ significantly between OSAS and control groups. We also found no correlation between apnea severity (AHI), lowest oxygen saturation (LAST) and BMI and RNFL, CCT and IOP.

Studies have shown that periodontal disease and Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) shared similar pathogenesis. Anti-Cyclic Citrullinated Peptide anibodies (anti-CCP) has recently been used for diagnosis of RA. Thus, this study aimed to assess the levels of anti-CCP antibodies and periodontal status in RA patients. ⋯ Most RA patients were positive for anti-CCP antibodies and presented with generalized gingivitis. Oral hygiene education should be reinforced in RA patients to prevent further progression of periodontal disease. Nevertheless, studies with larger sample size should be carried out to obtain more conclusive findings.
