To investigate the adaptation of pregnant women to the recommended weight gain range according to body mass index (BMI) and to determine the factors affecting them. ⋯ The groups with overweight and obese pregnant women according to BMI before pregnancy had the highest rates of weight gain, above the recommended limits. BMI before pregnancy directly affects weight gain during pregnancy and the importance of pre-pregnancy counseling and weight loss is emphasized once again.

To compare and analyze the clinical effects of internal fixation of minimally invasive elastic stable intramedullary nail and plate in the treatment of pediatric femoral shaft fracture. ⋯ Pediatric femoral shaft fractures can be treated with internal fixation of minimally invasive elastic intramedullary nail, and it has advantages of significant curative effect, small trauma and fast postoperative recovery, which is conducive to fracture healing and worth promoting.

MicroRNA-21 (miR-21) is one of the oncogenic miRNAs which may be a potential diagnostic biomarker for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). ⋯ MiR-21 is a helpful biomarker for early diagnosis of HCC. Nevertheless, the results of the test must be interpreted carefully in the context of medical history, erological tests and imaging examinations for HCC surveillance.

To explore the appropriateness of WFME Basic Medical Education (BME) standards to Pakistani context. ⋯ This is the first study exploring the appropriateness of WFME-BME standards for accreditation in Pakistan. We found that all the areas, sub-areas and standards are largely appropriate. We recommend further deliberation on 10 standards with more than five percent negative responses, regarding their contextualization to Pakistan and the development of guidelines and possible reconsiderations in WFME future revisions.

To examine the factors associated with caregivers' burden in individuals providing care to family members suffering from serious mental illness. ⋯ The results of study demonstrate that caring for family members with serious mental illness impacts the caregivers' wellbeing. It, therefore, highlights the need for support and counseling services for the caregivers to reduce the burden of caring.
