Nights and weekends represent a potentially high-risk time for pediatric cardiac arrest (CA) patients in emergency departments. Data regarding night or weekend arrest and its impact on outcomes is controversial. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between cardiopulmonary resuscitation during the various emergency department shifts and survival to discharge. ⋯ Survival rates from pediatric CAs were significantly lower during non-working hours. Poor outcome was associated with prolonged cardiopulmonary resuscitation, out of hospital CA and older age.

Harlequin Ichthyosis (HI) is a dreadful skin disorder with steady rise of cases with prolonged survival. Harlequin fetus follows an autosomal recessive pattern with the incidence of 1in 300,000 live births. ⋯ The newborn remained under extensive intensive care in a tertiary care unit where he breathed his last on 11th day after birth. Prenatal diagnosis and genetic counseling is of vital importance due to the association of ABCA12 mutation with HI.

To record the dentition, jaw and facial growth and development of children with class II malocclusion at the age of 7-8 years old in the early dental transitional stage with 3D technology and to provide the study basis for the growth and development parameters of normal children and children with class II malocclusion. ⋯ The dentition scanning results suggested that the study group had significantly larger anterior overbite and anterior overjet and smaller width of the upper arch than the control group; there was a significant difference between the two groups (P<0.05). The 3D reconstruction of the lower mandible suggested that the study group had smaller Go angle and SNB angle and shorter ANS-Me distance, Go-Me distance and N-Me distance compared to the control group; the differences had statistical significance (P<0.05). The face scanning results demonstrated that the nasolabial angle and facial convexity angle of the study group were significantly larger than those in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).

As the thyroid cancer incidence is increasing, the search for its risk factor is becoming more important. Serum thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) levels being a growth factor for normal thyroid tissue, is also considered as growth promotor of cancer cells. In our study we aimed for pre-operative serum TSH levels of Differentiated thyroid cancers (DTC) done before their first surgery and determined its association with advanced disease in terms of stage, multifocal disease, lymph node involvement and distant metastasis. ⋯ The serum TSH levels before surgery was not associated with poor prognosis of differentiated thyroid cancer with respect to higher staging, multifocal disease, lymphatic or distant metastasis.
