To find out the application value of minimally invasive percutaneous dilational tracheostomy in critically ill patients in intensive care unit (ICU). ⋯ Minimally invasive percutaneous dilational tracheostomy has advantages of small trauma, less infection and beautiful incision, and it will not increase postoperative complications. It is of great value in the treatment of ICU critical patients.

Heineke-Mikulicz pyloroplasty for isolated pyloric stricture caused by corrosive ingestion in children.
Corrosive ingestion in children is a common problem in low income countries. These agents cause injuries and later strictures of esophagus and stomach. Gastric outlet obstruction is known complication of acids and surgery is the mainstay of treatment. ⋯ All three patients had an initial latent period of one to two weeks following corrosive ingestion, after which symptoms of gastric outlet obstruction appeared. Intraoperatively, all three had normal esophagus and antrum but scarred and strictured pylorus. Heineke-Mikulicz pyloroplasty was done in these cases without complications and the outcomes were satisfactory.

To determine the frequency of anti-HCV in patients on maintenance haemodialysis (HD) and its association with history of blood transfusion and with the practice of HD from more than one center. ⋯ There was a high prevalence (41.6%) of anti-HCV in our HD patients and anti-HCV positivity had significant association with history of blood transfusion as well as with history of HD from multiple centres.

To determine the cases of Noninvasive Follicular thyroid neoplasm with papillary like nuclear features (NIFTP) in Pakistani population retrospectively. Another objective was to determine their clinical and radiological outcomes with respect to local and systemic disease recurrence, reconfirming the benign course of this new nomenclature in Thyroid tumors by WHO in our population would encourage adopting the new conservative treatment approach in such patients. ⋯ Our study favors the low risk nature of NIFTP with no disease recurrence in the cases studied and encourages de-escalation of treatment.

To determine the quality of life of students of a private medical college in Karachi in Pakistan. ⋯ Medical education influences the quality of life (QOL) of students adversely. Social relationships and environmental domain were satisfactory in private medical institutes whereas physical and psychological progress was low due to academic load which requires improvement either by physical activities such as fitness classes or other extra-curricular activities.
