Transient paralysis of facial nerve is seen to vary from 15 % to 66 % in post-parotid surgery. The objective of this study was to find out the complications in post-parotidectomy with regards to facial nerve dysfunction since it is a vital structure encountered in parotid surgeries. ⋯ The most prevalent benign parotid tumour in this study was pleomorphic adenoma. After performing parotid surgery, it was predicted that the rate of complications related to the facial nerve injury was reduced as compared to the previous studies.

To investigate the clinical effect of microsurgical scleral drainage and trabeculectomy combined with scleral flap adjustable suture technique in the treatment of primary glaucoma. ⋯ Microsurgical scleral drainage and trabeculectomy combined with scleral flap adjustable suture technique has better curative effect on primary glaucoma than compound trabeculectomy. Moreover, it does not exacerbate complications. Therefore, the combination treatment technique merits clinical application.

The aim of the present in-vitro study was to assess antimicrobial efficacy of 0.8% hyaluronic acid (HA) and 0.2% Chlorhexidine gluconate (CHX) against Porphyromonas gingivalis (P. gingivalis). ⋯ In-vitro, 0.8% HA is more effective in reducing the P. gingivalis CFUs/ml compared with 0.2% CHX.

Subacute Granulomatous Thyroiditis (De Quervain's Thyroiditis) is an acute painful inflammatory disease of the thyroid. We aimed to investigate easily accessible and cheap hemogram based parameters of Neutrophil to Lymphocyte Ratio (NLR), Platelet to Lymphocyte Ratio (PLR), and Mean Platelet Volume (MPV) in the follow up of inflammatory thyroid disease. ⋯ According to the present study, we believe that the NLR and PLR parameters will be of benefit in the follow-up the disease, accurately demonstrate the inflammatory load in the acute phase of the disease, and correlate with the common acute phase reactants.

To gauge the recent breadth of MDR E. coli along with antibiogram of carbapenemase producing (CP) E. coli among children from an institute which receives patients from all over Punjab. ⋯ The isolation of high number of MDR E. coli amongst the paediatric patients is worrisome, which could serve as a potential source of horizontal genes transfer to other genera.
