To explore guiding significance of intraoperative frozen section for judging incisal edge range of esophageal carcinoma. ⋯ The cancerous focus residue of incisal edge in esophageal carcinoma is not uncommon. Intraoperative frozen section is helpful to judge the proper excision length of esophageal carcinoma.

To determine the prevalence of complications of cochlear implant surgery in children with congenital profound sensorineural hearing loss. ⋯ Present public sector implant program is characterized with a very low prevalence of complications of 16(6.4%) with 4(1.6%) major and 12(4.8%) minor complications. Wound infection and acute otitis media were the commonest complications.

To determine the effectiveness of mechanical traction in supine versus prone lying position for lumbosacral radiculopathy. ⋯ Lumbar traction in prone lying position is more effective than lumbar traction in supine lying position for the treatment of chronic lumbosacral radiculopathy.

Taking the determination of mecA gene by polymerized chain reaction (PCR) method as a reference in determining methicillin resistance in Staphylococcus species, we aimed at comparing the reliability levels of disk diffusion, latex agglutination test and chromogenic agar use methods. ⋯ Chromogenic agar provides more reliable data for S. aureus isolates, and the combined use of all three methods does not significantly increase reliability.

To investigate in detail the exact relationship between Pseudomyopia, also termed accommodative spasm, and psychiatric disorders. ⋯ It is necessary to request psychiatric consultation in each case of pseudomyopia. Comorbidity of anxiety and depressive disorders is more common in pseudomyopia cases. In addition, as the severity of psychiatric symptoms increases, the amount of accommodation also appears to increase.
