To investigate the prognostic significant of lymph node ratio and surgical margins in patients with colon cancer undergoing surgery. ⋯ A high metastatic LNR is associated with poorer overall and disease-free survival.

Coagulase-negative staphylococci (CNS) are commensal skin microbiota but may also cause septicemia, endocarditis, and systemic infections. Staphylococcus lugdunensis, is a member of CNS, but their antibiotic susceptibility test should be evaluated as Staphylococcus aureus not as CNS. We aimed to investigate S.lugdunensis and selected CNS strains by simple biochemical method and determination of their susceptibilities to antibiotics. ⋯ ODC and PYR are cost effective tests and easily applicable for accurate identification of S.lugdunensis, and eliminating of opportinistic pathogens such as S. epidermidis, S. haemolyticus, and S. chromogenes from other CNS species in postoperative endophthalmitis and pateints with malignancies. Linezolid was very effective (100%) on four selected CNS species.

The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the vulnerability of countries worldwide and their abilities to cope with the fast-paced demands of the research and medical community. A key to promoting ethical decision-making frameworks is by calibrating the sustainability at regional, national, and global levels to incorporate coordinated reforms. ⋯ The World Health Organization's ethical framework proposed for the entire population during the pandemic was applied to thematically delineate findings under equality, best outcomes (utility), prioritizing the worst off, and prioritizing those tasked with helping others. The findings demarcate ethical concerns about the validity of drug and vaccine trials in developing and developed countries, hints of unjust healthcare organizational policies, lack of equal allocation of pertinent resources, miscalculated allocation of resources to essential workers and stratified populations.

Non-contrast MRI is used for identifying patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), especially among high-risk patients with cirrhosis or chronic viral hepatitis. The accuracy of non-contrast MRI has been investigated with varying results. We performed this meta-analysis to consolidate the evidence on the accuracy of non-contrast MRI for the detection of HCC. ⋯ Deek's test showed the absence of publication bias. We found that non-contrast MRI has high sensitivity and specificity as a tool for detecting HCC. Studies exploring its accuracy in different ethnic populations are required to strengthen the evidence.

To compare maternal and perinatal outcomes in patients with threatened miscarriage with or without subchorionic hematoma (SCH) at a tertiary care hospital. ⋯ Our study shows that women with threatened miscarriage having SCH are at a higher risk of having preeclampsia and SGA and hence these pregnancies warrant greater surveillance.
