To determine the effectiveness of video-based teaching in surgery residents by comparing it to the routine operating room traditional teaching. ⋯ Video-based teaching has higher learning gain irrespective of the fact that both groups exhibit statistically significant results in all seven domains of the global rating system. Recorded video evaluation was found feasible and reliable tool for formative assessment.

Propofol is more effective than inhalational anesthesia; however, the results for the management of acute pain remain controversial. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the incidence of acute pain after inhalation anesthesia and total intravenous anesthesia among patients who underwent thoracotomy at our hospital. ⋯ Total intravenous anesthesia with propofol-remifentanil provided better analgesia for acute postoperative pain in patients who underwent thoracotomy than inhalational anesthesia, suggesting it may be considered the combination of choice for thoracic surgery.

To determine the effect of educational interventions on knowledge and approach of Allied Health Sciences Students regarding blood groups and blood donation. ⋯ Educational interventions were effective in improving the knowledge of Allied Health Sciences students about blood groups and blood donation. The enlightenment strategies positively influenced students towards the active participation in blood donation campaigns.

Comparison of the effects of transperitoneal and retroperitoneal robot-assisted partial nephrectomy.
To compare the effects of transperitoneal and retroperitoneal approaches for robotic assisted partial nephrectomy (RAPN) in patients with renal cell carcinoma (RCC). ⋯ Compared with the transperitoneal approach, the retroperitoneal method of RAPN is equally safe and is associated with improved perioperative status, lower stress response, and better quality of life for RCC patients.
