High levels of glucose during acute pancreatitis (AP) progression influence disease progression by promoting the release of inflammatory cytokines. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of both the blood glucose level in patients without diabetes mellitus (DM) and the presence of DM on the severity and course of AP in patients presenting with clinical AP. ⋯ Elevated blood glucose is relatively common in patients with AP and has a negative impact on the disease process. A high glucose level can increase the severity of AP and slow healing.

To evaluate the feasibility and safety of total laparoscopic hysterectomy (TLH) without uterine manipulator for patients with early-stage cervical cancer. ⋯ Compared with conventional laparoscopy, hysteroscopy without the use of uterine manipulators can significantly reduce the levels of SCC-Ag, CEA, and CA-125 in patients with early-stage cervical cancer within two years after the surgery, without increasing postoperative complications or affecting survival, and has the same safety.

To compare the clinical effects of oblique lumbar interbody fusion (OLIF) and lateral lumbar interbody fusion (LLIF) in the treatment of degenerative disc disease of the lumbar spine. ⋯ LLIF and OLIF may be both safe and effective minimally invasive surgical methods for the treatment of degenerative disc disease of the lumbar spine.

Using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), we analysed the clinical manifestations of granulomatous lobular mastitis (GLM) before and after treatment with traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). ⋯ Combining internal and external Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) therapy proved successful for GLM. A reliable assessment of therapy efficacy is provided by MRI examination of lesion changes before and after treatment.

To investigate the correlations of cognitive function with serum levels of homocysteine (Hcy), sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG), and leptin in patients with schizophrenia. ⋯ Increased levels of Hcy and SHBG and decreased leptin are strongly associated with the occurrence of cognitive impairment in SCZ cases. Therefore, clinical observation and monitoring of these markers can help identify changes in patient conditions.
