To explore the clinical features of thymoma with and without myasthenia gravis (MG). ⋯ MG rarely occurs in type A and type C diseases. The prognosis of thymoma with MG is similar to that of thymoma alone. The main causes of death may be myasthenia crisis in thymoma patients with MG and advanced tumor stage in patients with thymoma alone.

Head and neck cancer (HNC) is a diversified group of tumors arising from the upper aerodigestive tract, encompassing the oral cavity, larynx, and pharynx. Globally, this particular cancer ranks sixth in prevalence, resulting in an annual mortality rate above 325,000 individuals. Surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy are the primary therapeutic options for HNC, which are frequently used in combination. ⋯ This review conducted a comprehensive literature search to identify relevant studies on immunotherapy options for head and neck cancer patients. The search strategy was designed to capture a wide range of peer-reviewed articles, conference proceedings, and grey literature from 2013 to 2023. The databases searched to ensure comprehensive coverage of the literature included PubMed, Web of Science, and Google Scholar; to include grey literature and articles not indexed in traditional databases.

To study the clinical effects of anlotinib combined with second-line chemotherapy (SLC) on immunosuppression in patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). ⋯ In patients with advanced NSCLC, anlotinib combined with SLC is associated with higher levels of immune cells and reduced inflammatory factors. This treatment regimen, thus, can reduce immunosuppression and improve the prognosis of NSCLC patients.

Infective endocarditis (IE) affects the endothelium of the heart, with the heart valves most commonly involved. It has been documented that the annual incidence of infective endocarditis is 3-10 per 100,000 patient-years1. However, it can be underestimated since the incidence in developing countries cannot be determined accurately. ⋯ As the patient's hemodynamic profile improved by the fifth day of admission, TTE was repeated, revealing a small ventricular septal defect (VSD). This case report highlights the importance of even small VSD that could potentially lead to right-sided IE. Surgical correction of VSD could prevent such a life-threatening condition.

To compare the effectiveness of ultrasound (US)-guided radiofrequency ablation (RFA) and conventional open thyroidectomy (OT) in the treatment of benign thyroid nodules (BTN). ⋯ Compared to conventional open thyroidectomy, US-guided RFA is associated with less trauma, faster recovery, fewer complications, and less impact on thyroid function in the treatment of patients with BTN.
