To describe the demographics; clinical, laboratory, echocardiographic findings; treatment and outcome in a cohort of children with Kawasaki disease in a tertiary care hospital. ⋯ Complete KD was present in 72% of our cohort of children. Coronary artery abnormalities were present in one third of these children, at younger age and more common in those with incomplete KD but recovered in most.

The purpose of the present study was to assess dentin shear bond strength (SBS) and mode of bond failure of bioactive cement (BA) in comparison to conventional resin cement when photosensitized by Er,Cr: YSGG Laser (ECL). ⋯ Dentin surface conditioned with Er,Cr: YSGG and bonded to C and V cements exhibit favourable bond strength values.

To study the expressions of TIMP-1 and MMP-9 in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) complicated with spontaneous pneumothorax, and their correlations with treatment outcomes. ⋯ Increase of serum TIMP-1 and MMP-9 expressions in COPD patients was correlated with symptoms and scores of quality of life, and the expressions were also correlated with short-term treatment reactivity.

To assess clinicopathological characteristics of primary gastro-entero-pancreatic poorly differentiated neuroendocrine carcinomas (GEP-PDNECAs) and evaluate overall survival in patients treated with systemic platinum and etoposide therapy. ⋯ GEP-PDNECA occurred in many part of the GI tract, most commonly in the colorectal region. Positivity of neuroendocrine markers was variable, which helped to confirm neuro-endocrine differentiation and to avoid under-diagnosis of GEP-PDNECA, especially in metastatic setting. Overall prognosis of GEP-PDNECA patients following platinum and etoposide therapy in our series was relatively favorable but remained poor in the presence of distant metastases.

Heineke-Mikulicz pyloroplasty for isolated pyloric stricture caused by corrosive ingestion in children.
Corrosive ingestion in children is a common problem in low income countries. These agents cause injuries and later strictures of esophagus and stomach. Gastric outlet obstruction is known complication of acids and surgery is the mainstay of treatment. ⋯ All three patients had an initial latent period of one to two weeks following corrosive ingestion, after which symptoms of gastric outlet obstruction appeared. Intraoperatively, all three had normal esophagus and antrum but scarred and strictured pylorus. Heineke-Mikulicz pyloroplasty was done in these cases without complications and the outcomes were satisfactory.
