To compare the efficacy of single versus double burr-hole for drainage of chronic subdural hematoma, keeping in consideration pertinent demographic, pre and postoperative associations. ⋯ There was no significant difference between outcomes of single and double burr-hole surgeries; the former must be preferred because of lesser iatrogenic trauma. GCS-score on presentation was validated as a negative association to anticipate post-operative outcomes.

To compare the effects of propofol versus sevoflurane on the outcomes of patients undergoing cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB). ⋯ Compared with sevoflurane, the use of propofol during cardiac surgery with CPB can efficiently improve postoperative cognitive function without increasing the risk of adverse reactions.

To examine concentration of Paraoxonase 1 enzymes across both Sudanese patients suffering from Type-I and Type-II diabetes. ⋯ Sudanese T1DM and T2DM have a lower PON1 concentration than healthy subjects, T1DM have lower level of PON1 than T2DM. PON1 was inversely correlated with bad lipids and duration of diabetes, but it has positive correlation with good lipids.

To compare the difference between an automated oscillometric ABI measurement as compared to standard hand-held doppler ABI in patients with Type-2 diabetes. ⋯ An automated oscillometric method is comparable with standard handheld-doppler method. It is cost effective, convenient and less time consuming, can be widely used to measure ABI without special training.

To determine the frequency of mutations in Low density lipoprotein receptor gene at exon 2 and 4 and its association with premature coronary artery disease (PCAD). ⋯ Glutamic acid (E) is replaced by Lysine (K) at position number 207 (E207K) mutation at exon 4 of low-density lipoprotein receptor (LDLR) gene may be the causative genetic basis of premature coronary artery disease among Pakistani population. The identified synonymous mutation at exon 2 was not causative as there is no change in the amino acid.
