Analysis of the occurrence of deep venous thrombosis in lower extremity fractures: A clinical study.
To clarify if fracture site is correlated to the occurrence of deep venous thrombosis, and determine the risk factors of deep venous thrombosis in lower extremity fractures, help surgeons make prophylaxis for the disease correctly. ⋯ Fracture site was correlated to the incidence of deep venous thrombosis, old age, longer operation time, and arthroplasty were independent risk factors, physical labor and postoperative exercises were protective factors for deep venous thrombosis in patients with lower extremity fractures.

Iron deficiency anemia (IDA) has been cited as the most common cause of anemia globally. Gastrointestinal (GI) lesions are amongst the common cause of IDA. Endoscopic evaluation is the most effective way to investigate the IDA. The aim of this study was to show the association of alarming GI symptoms with abnormal endoscopic findings and to cut off the burden and cost of unnecessary endoscopies. ⋯ Most of our patients had non-malignant pathologies, while alarm features were not found to be useful predictors of serious findings.

To investigate the effects of levels of D-dimer and N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT-pro BNP) on the prognosis of patients with acute cerebral infarction. ⋯ The levels of plasma NT-pro BNP and D-dimer can reflect the disease condition and prognosis of patients with acute cerebral infarction. Higher levels of NT-pro BNP and D-dimer indicates poorer prognosis. This work can provide a guidance for the clinical treatment of acute cerebral infarction.

To compare glottis exposure of the same patients with potentially difficult tracheal intubation (PDTI) subjected to Airtraq laryngoscopy and Macintosh laryngoscopy under consciousness and topical anesthesia. ⋯ Airtraq laryngoscopy could significantly improve the glottis exposure and reduce the difficulty of intubation for patients with potentially tracheal intubation compared to the traditional Macintosh laryngoscopy.

To evaluate the effect of intrauterine insemination (IUI) on sexual functioning, quality of life and psychological well-being. ⋯ Going to an IUI treatment has negative effects on FSFI scores and some of SF 36 scores but we did not find a significant negative effect on BDI scores.
