To assess the association of raised serum liver enzyme (ALT) with type 2 diabetic subjects. ⋯ High frequency of elevated ALT suggests the association of liver disease with type 2 diabetes. The type 2 diabetic subjects need to be routinely screened and further studies to assess the possible associations with NAFLD and insulin resistance are required to further clarify the disease process.

To find the perceived stress level and monetary burden in the thalassemia patients and their caregivers related to thalassemia treatment sessions. ⋯ More than half of the patients and caregivers were having a high perceived stress levels and there was a significant association between the two groups. The monetary burden was a lot to bear by the patients and the cost of treatment session most expensive.

To determine the efficacy of Vitamin D supplementation in achieving an early sputum conversion in vitamin D deficient smear positive pulmonary tuberculosis patients. ⋯ Four doses of intramuscular vitamin D given after every 14 days corrected vitamin D deficiency and improved the rate of sputum smear conversion in patients of pulmonary tuberculosis.

To determine serum biomarkers in detection of preeclampsia severity among pregnant women. ⋯ Biomarkers such as ALT, uric acid, and LDH were shown to be prognostic in detection of theseverity of preeclampsia. LDH was demonstrated to significantly be a better prognostic test in detection of preeclampsia severity.

This study was to employ the major variables relating to radiation safety that were derived using the Haddon Matrix to develop a radiation safety behavior model based on social cognitive theory that can be applied to improve the radiation safety behaviors of professors and students in radiological science departments. ⋯ Since the general view on radiation safety management in universities is also changing to a maximalist attitude, the level of safety management must be increased accordingly.
