The purpose of this research was to determine the frequency and severity of low back pain and influencing factors in nurses working in intensive care units. ⋯ It was observed that many of the nurses working in intensive care units experienced low back pain, and especially those working in internal medicine and pediatric intensive care units and working in shifts had higher average pain scores.

Multidrug resistant AmpC β-lactamase producing Escherichia coli isolated from a paediatric hospital.
Objective : The objective of the study was to observe the antimicrobial resistance of AmpC β-lactamase producing E. coli. ⋯ The minimum use of invasive devices and strict antibiotic policies can reduce the spread of AmpC β-lactamase producing E. coli.

Objective : The aim of study was to investigate the distribution of the integrons in Escherichia coli (E. coli) isolates, and analyze the possible relationship between the antimicrobial resistance profiles and the integrons. Methods : The antimicrobial profiles of 376 E. coli strains were analysed by disk diffusion test. The integron genes and variable regions were detected by PCR. ⋯ Additionally, more than one gene array harboured in 13.9% isolates of ESBL-EC, while in 9.1% isolates of ESBL-negative E.coli. Conclusion : The high incidence of ESBL-EC with resistance to multiple antibiotics were detected in the isolates from Blood stream infection (BSI). More resistant gene cassettes in ESBL-EC may partially underlie the high resistance to amikacin, while no relation exists between the high incidence of ESBL-EC and classes 1~ 3 integrons in this region.

Tumor markers have shown little benefit as a method for screening. However, they can be used clinically for the monitoring of tumor recurrence and used as prognostic factors because higher levels have been observed in advanced disease. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between the preoperative tumor marker levels and different clinical aspects of gastric cancer. ⋯ The serum CEA and CA 125 levels were found to be significantly elevated in gastric cancer patients than in controls. The serum level of CEA had showed a significant elevation with the presence of distant metastasis. The CA 19-9 and CA 125 levels had showed significant elevations with the presence of peritoneal carcinomatozis. Conclusions : This study showed that there is a limited clinical benefit of preoperative tumor marker measurements in gastric cancer such as estimation of peritoneal dissemination.
