Has the quality of physiotherapy care in patients with Whiplash-associated disorders (WAD) improved over time? A retrospective study using routinely collected data and quality indicators.
To develop valid quality indicators (QIs) for physiotherapy care based on best available evidence, and to use these QIs to explore trends in the quality of physiotherapy care of patients with Whiplash-associated disorders (WAD) using guideline-based routinely collected data (RCD) gathered between 1996 and 2011. ⋯ A preliminary set of novel QIs was developed. Using RCD and these QIs, we conclude that physiotherapy care in our study setting improved over the period 1996-2011. Furthermore, the QIs met the performance targets set for the clinical reasoning process after the transition to the Dutch CPG "Physiotherapy Management and WAD".

Validation of diabetes medication self-efficacy scale in Chinese with type 2 diabetes.
Greater diabetes medication self-efficacy has been shown to associate with better medication adherence, which is critical for disease control for people living with type 2 diabetes (T2D). The Diabetes Medication Self-efficacy Scale (DMSS) is a 19-item instrument to measure diabetes medication self-efficacy. The aim of the current study was to translate the DMSS into Chinese and validate the Chinese version of DMSS (CDMSS) among Chinese T2D patients. ⋯ The CDMSS-11 is a valid and reliable measure to assess medication self-efficacy among Chinese T2D patients.

Medication adherence during laboratory workup for primary aldosteronism: pilot study.
Current hypertension guidelines stipulate that all incompatible medications be stopped before performing laboratory screening for aldosteronism, but patient adherence is unclear. We measured plasma drug concentrations to determine drug adherence and potential drug bias during biochemical tests. ⋯ Nonadherence was frequent during laboratory evaluations for aldosteronism advocating cautious interpretation of results. A multicenter study is desirable to set the stage for new screening protocols that should incorporate also incentives and checks of drug adherence.
